The right kind of interior for multifunctional electrode architectures: carbon nanofoam papers with aperiodic submicrometre pore networks interconnected in 3D

TL;DR: In this article, carbon nanofoam papers are fabricated by infiltrating commercially available low-density carbon fiber papers with phenolic resin and then pyrolyzed to create lightweight, mechanically flexible, and electronically conductive sheets of ultraporous carbon with an electronic conductivity characteristic of the paper support.

Microporous activated carbon aerogels via a simple subcritical drying route for CO2 capture and hydrogen storage

TL;DR: In this paper, a simple subcritical drying route and subsequent activation to high surface area carbons with attractive properties for gas storage is demonstrated, where micropores account for 80% of the surface area and pore volume.

Influence of carbon coating on the performance of a LiMn0.5Ni0.5O2 cathode

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of coating α-NaFeO2-structured LiMn0.5O2 cathode materials with carbon particles have been investigated, and the carbon coatings are shown to suppress the capacity fade observed in the uncoated cells by increasing the electronic conductivity and reducing cell polarization, thus preventing the evolution of oxygen from the cathodes.

Synthesis optimization of organic xerogels produced from convective air-drying of resorcinol-formaldehyde gels

TL;DR: In this paper, the aging time has no effect on the pore texture after 24h at 90°C or 48h at 70°C, regardless of the R/C value.

Controlling the textural parameters of mesoporous carbon materials

TL;DR: In this paper, the mesoporous carbon materials prepared by inorganic templating technique using SBA-15 as a template and sucrose as a carbon source, have been systematically investigated as a function of the sucrose-to-mesoporous silica composition, with a special focus on controlling the mesophorous structure, surface morphology and textural parameters.

Organic aerogels from the polycondensation of resorcinol with formaldehyde

TL;DR: In this paper, the polycondensation of resorcinol with formaldehyde under alkaline conditions results in the formation of surface functionalized polymer "clusters" which are processed under supercritical conditions to obtain low density, organic aerogels.
