Effect size estimates: Current use, calculations, and interpretation.

TLDR
A straightforward guide to understanding, selecting, calculating, and interpreting effect sizes for many types of data and to methods for calculating effect size confidence intervals and power analysis is provided.
Abstract
The Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (American Psychological Association, 2001, American Psychological Association, 2010) calls for the reporting of effect sizes and their confidence intervals. Estimates of effect size are useful for determining the practical or theoretical importance of an effect, the relative contributions of factors, and the power of an analysis. We surveyed articles published in 2009 and 2010 in the Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, noting the statistical analyses reported and the associated reporting of effect size estimates. Effect sizes were reported for fewer than half of the analyses; no article reported a confidence interval for an effect size. The most often reported analysis was analysis of variance, and almost half of these reports were not accompanied by effect sizes. Partial η2 was the most commonly reported effect size estimate for analysis of variance. For t tests, 2/3 of the articles did not report an associated effect size estimate; Cohen's d was the most often reported. We provide a straightforward guide to understanding, selecting, calculating, and interpreting effect sizes for many types of data and to methods for calculating effect size confidence intervals and power analysis.

Interacting influences of gender and chronic pain status on parasympathetically mediated heart rate variability in adolescents and young adults.

TL;DR: Spectral analysis of electrocardiogram showed that Pain-Persist females had reduced power in the high frequency domain of cardiac activity, ie, reduced parasympathetic “braking” of sympathetic activity, both at rest and during stress.

Overlooked Tertiary Sulci Serve as a Meso-Scale Link between Microstructural and Functional Properties of Human Lateral Prefrontal Cortex

TL;DR: The posterior middle frontal sulcus (pmfs) as discussed by the authors is a tertiary sulcus with three components that differ in their myelin content, resting-state connectivity profiles, and engagement across meta-analyses of 83 cognitive tasks.

The Effect of COVID-19 Confinement in Behavioral, Psychological, and Training Patterns of Chess Players

TL;DR: Results showed that chess players significantly decreased physical activity per day while increased chess practise during the confinement period, however, anxiety levels remained moderate despite the anti-stress effects of physical activity.

Results reporting in single case experiments and single case meta-analysis.

TL;DR: Recommendations for the explicit language of reporting as derived from prior meta-analysis and a current review of two leading journals provides a scaffold consistent with existing guidelines but additive in detail, exemplars, and justification to improve reporting of results for individual studies and their potential use in future meta-analytic work.

Mapping the relationship between curriculum, pedagogy and digital technology to develop a predictive model for the improvement in students' attainment

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed an original predictive model, which outlines the improvement in students' attainment due to the complex interactions of three critical elements - curriculum (C), pedagogy (P), and digital technology (T), what I call the CPT model.

Applied multiple regression/correlation analysis for the behavioral sciences

TL;DR: In this article, the Mathematical Basis for Multiple Regression/Correlation and Identification of the Inverse Matrix Elements is presented. But it does not address the problem of missing data.
