TLDR
In this paper, a fundamental study to investigate the emission characteristics of ethanol-blended fossil fuels is presented, employing a heterogeneous experimental setup, emissions are measured from diffusion flames around spherical porous particles, and a simplified theoretical analysis has been carried out to determine equilibrium surface temperature, composition of the fuel components in vapor phase and heat of reaction of each blend.

Droplet combustion of blended fuels with alcohol and biodiesel/diesel in microgravity condition

TL;DR: In this paper, a drop tower built in the lab space was employed to study the droplet combustion of multi-component fuels, specifically of diesel mixed with alcohol (methanol, ethanol, and 2-propanol) and biodiesel.
Journal ArticleDOI

Progress in regulated emissions of ethanol-gasoline blends from a spark ignition engine

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explored different methods to identify the major sources of increased air pollution from gasoline engines, such as continuous and rigorous emissions from gasoline engine, which are generating a threat to our environment.
Journal ArticleDOI

A comparison of the exhaust emission of a vehicle fuelled with different ethanol-petrol blends

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of different quantities of ethanol in ethanol-petrol blends (E5, E10, E25, E50 and E85) on the emission measurement of the gaseous pollutants carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC), oxides of nitrogen (NOx) and carbon dioxide (CO2) for a passenger car were analyzed over the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) on a chassis dynamometer.

The Properties of Gases and Liquids

TL;DR: In this article, the authors estimate physical properties of pure components and Mixtures and show that the properties of these components and mixtures are similar to those of ideal gases and liquids.
Journal ArticleDOI

Progress in bioethanol processing

TL;DR: A review of the biological and thermochemical methods that could be used to produce bioethanol is made and an analysis of its global production trends is carried out in this paper, where the authors evaluate the utilization of different feedstocks (i.e., sucrose containing, starchy materials, lignocellulosic biomass) is required considering the big share of raw materials in bio-ethanol costs.

Effect of ethanol-unleaded gasoline blends on engine performance and exhaust emission

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of using unleaded gasoline-ethanol blends on SI engine performance and exhaust emission was investigated using a four stroke, four cylinder SI engine (type TOYOTA, TERCEL-3A).
