Environmental concentrations of engineered nanomaterials: Review of modeling and analytical studies
TLDR
True validation of the modeled values is difficult because trace analytical methods that are specific for ENM detection and quantification are not available, and the modeled and measured results are not always comparable due to the different forms and sizes of particles that these two approaches target.About:

Emerging threats and persistent conservation challenges for freshwater biodiversity
Andrea J. Reid,Andrew K. Carlson,Irena F. Creed,Erika J. Eliason,Peter Gell,Pieter T. J. Johnson,Karen A. Kidd,Tyson J. MacCormack,Julian D. Olden,Steve J. Ormerod,John P. Smol,William W. Taylor,Klement Tockner,Jesse C. Vermaire,David Dudgeon,Steven J. Cooke +15 more
TL;DR: Efforts to reverse global trends in freshwater degradation now depend on bridging an immense gap between the aspirations of conservation biologists and the accelerating rate of species endangerment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comprehensive probabilistic modelling of environmental emissions of engineered nanomaterials
TL;DR: It is shown that the production volume and the compounds' inertness are crucial factors determining final concentrations of ENM, and ENM production estimates are generally higher than a few years ago.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predicted Releases of Engineered Nanomaterials: From Global to Regional to Local
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used a life cycle approach to estimate ENM material flow estimates at the local level using a life-cycle approach, global ENM production and application data were used to estimate releases at global, regional, national, and local levels.

Nanoparticles in the environment: where do we come from, where do we go to?
Mirco Bundschuh,Mirco Bundschuh,Juliane Filser,Simon Lüderwald,Moira S. McKee,George Metreveli,Gabriele E. Schaumann,Ralf Schulz,Stephan Wagner +8 more
TL;DR: Recent achievements in the field of nano-ecotoxicology in both aquatic and terrestrial systems are highlighted but also substantial gaps that require further attention in the future are referred to.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fate of nano- and microplastic in freshwater systems: A modeling study ☆
TL;DR: Particle size had a dramatic effect on the modeled fate and retention of microplastic and on the positioning of the accumulation hot spots in the sediment along the river, indicating that the smaller submicron particles as well as larger micro- and millimetre sized plastic are preferentially retained.

Modeled Environmental Concentrations of Engineered Nanomaterials (TiO2, ZnO, Ag, CNT, Fullerenes) for Different Regions
TL;DR: The results of this study indicate that risks to aquatic organisms may currently emanate from nano- Ag, nano-TiO(2), and nano-ZnO in sewage treatment effluents for all considered regions and for nano-Ag in surface waters.
