Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of substrate pretreatment and water activity on lipase-catalyzed cellulose acetylation in organic media.

TL;DR: The much larger extent to which the lipase‐catalyzed cellulose acetylation was enhanced by water activity optimization than by substrate pretreatment further supported the predominant role played by the major lipase activity of the A. niger lipase over its side cellulase activity in catalyzing cellulose ester synthesis in organic media.
Journal ArticleDOI

A cell-free system for production of 2,3-butanediol is robust to growth-toxic compounds.

TL;DR: The cell-free system is found to be robust to working concentrations of antibiotics and other compounds that are toxic to cell growth, but do not denature or inhibit relevant enzymes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Lipase-catalyzed acidolysis of fish liver oil with dihydroxyphenylacetic acid in organic solvent media

TL;DR: Lipase-catalyzed acidolysis reaction of fish liver oil with dihydroxyphenylacetic acid was investigated in terms of enzyme specificity as well as the effects of enzyme concentration, molar substrate ratio and organic solvent mixture on the bioconversion yield.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mono- and disaccharides enhance the activity and enantioselectivity of Burkholderia cepacia lipase in organic solvent but do not significantly affect its conformation.

TL;DR: The results suggest that although sugars are not able to fully preserve the native secondary structure, they might contribute to reduce the conformational changes caused by protein/protein interactions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reverse action of hydrolases in frozen aqueous solutions.

TL;DR: The current manuscript gives an overview of protease-catalysed peptide synthesis, the possible reasons of the yield-enhancing effect of freezing and the application of glycosidases and ribonucleases for synthetic purposes in frozen reaction mixtures.
