Enhanced hydantoinase and N-carbamoylase activity on immobilisation of Agrobacterium tumefaciens

TL;DR: Cell extracts of Agrobacterium tumefaciens, immobilised in calcium alginate beads, had a 7-fold increase in N- carbamoylase activity on reaction with N-carbamylglycine and the pH optima of the immobilised hydantoinase and N- CarbamoyLase enzymes decreased to pH 7 and pH 8, respectively.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tools and ingredients for the biocatalytic synthesis of carbohydrates and glycoconjugates

TL;DR: Natural and recombinant glycosyltransferases have been prepared on a large-scale to establish biocatalytic glycosYLations in water as highly regio- and stereospecific reaction methodologies without the need for laborious protecting group manipulations, solubility adaptations and complex synthetic schemes.

New application of firefly luciferase--it can catalyze the enantioselective thioester formation of 2-arylpropanoic acid.

TL;DR: Results suggest that LUC‐H could catalyze the kinetic resolution of 2‐arylpropanoic acid efficiently and would be a new option for the preparation of optically active 2‐substituted carboxylic acids.

Transesterification of a Tertiary Alcohol by Engineered Candida antarctica Lipase A

TL;DR: Lipase A from Candida antarctica (CalA) is a hydrolase that has previously been shown to catalyze the transesterification of racemic 2‐phenylbut‐3‐yn‐2‐ol at a low rate, but the activity of that enzyme was improved by protein engineering through a semi‐rational design strategy.

Immobilization of procerain B, a cysteine endopeptidase, on amberlite MB-150 beads.

TL;DR: Covalent immobilization of a novel cysteine endopeptidase (procerain B) on amberlite MB-150 beads through glutaraldehyde by Schiff base linkage improves its industrial applicability and retains 38.6% activity till the 10th use, which strongly represents its industrial candidature.
