Estimating direct and indirect rebound effects by supply-driven input-output model: A case study of Taiwan's industry

TLDR
In this paper, the authors apply a supply-driven input-output model to quantify the magnitude of rebound effects by explicitly considering inter-industry linkages and showed that indirect rebound effects were higher than direct rebound effects.

Scheduling for sustainable manufacturing: A review

TL;DR: A pool of sustainable manufacturing indicators is created that refers to some previous research that focus on applicable-proven indicators and energy cost and greenhouse gas indicators become the most frequently used indicators in sustainable scheduling.

Global overview for energy use of the world economy: Household-consumption-based accounting based on the world input-output database (WIOD)

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explored the energy use of the world economy under a householdconsumption-based MRIO (multi-region input-output) accounting scheme, which corresponds to the value judgement of household consumption being the ultimate driver of the economy, which complements existing accounting methods based on different viewpoints.

A review of optimal energy policy instruments on industrial energy efficiency programs, rebound effects, and government policies

TL;DR: In this article, the authors classified the most important academic studies that have addressed the environmental and economic aspects of industrial energy-efficiency programs using a systematic review, and provided some novel recommendations to improve the performance of IEEPs, using some restrictive policies on the negative impacts of rebound effects.

Industrial sectors' energy rebound effect: An empirical study of Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration

TL;DR: Based on panel data of 14 cities from 2003 to 2013, this paper estimated the rebound effect's magnitude in YRDUA's industrial sectors using dynamic ordinary least squares (DOLS) and seemingly unrelated regression (SUR) methods.

Scrutinizing the direct rebound effect for French households using quantile regression and data from an original survey

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors developed a quantile regression model to measure the magnitude of the direct rebound effect for residential electricity demand based on micro-level data from an original survey of a representative sample of 2356 French households.

Energy efficiency and consumption — the rebound effect — a survey

TL;DR: In this paper, a review of some of the relevant literature from the US offers definitions and identifies sources including direct, secondary, and economy-wide sources and concludes that the range of estimates for the size of the rebound effect is very low to moderate.

What is energy efficiency?: Concepts, indicators and methodological issues

TL;DR: In this article, the authors review the range of energy efficiency indicators that can be used, particularly at the policy level, and discuss the specific limitations and appropriate uses of physical thermodynamic, economic-thermodynamic and pure economic indicators.
Journal ArticleDOI

Defining the rebound effect

TL;DR: In this article, the authors give rigorous definitions of the rebound effect not only in the well described single commodity case, but also for a multiple commodity case and show that the familiar laws for the single case do not hold for the multiple case.

Economic Implications of Mandated Efficiency in Standards for Household Appliances

TL;DR: In this article, the authors argue that the indiscriminate use of mandated standards will backfire, but a mix of selective standards and reliance on prices as a restraint can be effective.

The rebound effect: Microeconomic definitions, limitations and extensions

TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide a rigorous definition of the rebound effect, to clarify key conceptual issues and to highlight the potential consequences of various assumptions for empirical estimates of the effect.
