In this article, the linear-polarization correlation of pairs of photons emitted in a radiative cascade of calcium has been measured using two-channel polarizers (i.e., optical analogs of Stern-Gerlach filters).Abstract:
The linear-polarization correlation of pairs of photons emitted in a radiative cascade of calcium has been measured. The new experimental scheme, using two-channel polarizers (i.e., optical analogs of Stern-Gerlach filters), is a straightforward transposition of Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen-Bohm gedankenexperiment. The present results, in excellent agreement with the quantum mechanical predictions, lead to the greatest violation of generalized Bell's inequalities ever achieved.read more

Quantum cryptography
TL;DR: A protocol for coin-tossing by exchange of quantum messages is presented, which is secure against traditional kinds of cheating, even by an opponent with unlimited computing power, but ironically can be subverted by use of a still subtler quantum phenomenon, the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen paradox.

Decoherence and the transition from quantum to classical
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors argue that without quantum physics we could not explain the behavior of solids, the structure and function of DNA, the color of the stars, the action of lasers or the properties of superfluids.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a loophole-free violation of local realism using entangled photon pairs, ensuring that all relevant events in their Bell test are spacelike separated by placing the parties far enough apart and by using fast random number generators and high-speed polarization measurements.

TL;DR: A review of the progress in photonic quantum information processing can be found in this article, where the emphasis is given to the creation of photonic entanglement of various forms, tests of the completeness of quantum mechanics (in particular, violations of local realism), quantum information protocols for quantum communication, and quantum computation with linear optics.
