Abstract
DNA microarrays containing virtually every gene of Saccharomyces cerevisiae were used to carry out a comprehensive investigation of the temporal program of gene expression accompanying the metabolic shift from fermentation to respiration. The expression profiles observed for genes with known metabolic functions pointed to features of the metabolic reprogramming that occur during the diauxic shift, and the expression patterns of many previously uncharacterized genes provided clues to their possible functions. The same DNA microarrays were also used to identify genes whose expression was affected by deletion of the transcriptional co-repressor TUP1 or overexpression of the transcriptional activator YAP1. These results demonstrate the feasibility and utility of this approach to genomewide exploration of gene expression patterns.

HAP-Like CCAAT-binding complexes in filamentous fungi: implications for biotechnology.

TL;DR: The recent cloning of genes encoding the components of the corresponding complex (AnCF/PENR1) of Aspergillus nidulans and characterization of CCAAT-regulated genes in A. ndulans led to a deeper insight into the role of this transcription complex, in particular in aerobically growing fungi.

Reconstruction of the yeast Snf1 kinase regulatory network reveals its role as a global energy regulator

TL;DR: The findings showed that Snf1 is a low‐energy checkpoint and that yeast can be used more extensively as a model system for studying the molecular mechanisms underlying the global regulation of AMPK in mammals, failure of which leads to metabolic diseases.

Gene Expression After Treatment With Hydrogen Peroxide, Menadione, or T-Butyl Hydroperoxide in Breast Cancer Cells

TL;DR: Interestingly, the patterns of gene induction were highly similar among the three oxidants; however, differences were observed, particularly with respect to p53, IL-6, and heat-shock related genes.

Identifying phase-specific genes in the fungal pathogen Histoplasma capsulatum using a genomic shotgun microarray.

TL;DR: Genes induced in the mycelial phase included several involved in conidiation, cell polarity, and melanin production in other organisms, extending previous observations that sulfur metabolism influences morphology in H. capsulatum.

Quantitative monitoring of gene expression patterns with a complementary DNA microarray.

TL;DR: A high-capacity system was developed to monitor the expression of many genes in parallel by means of simultaneous, two-color fluorescence hybridization, which enabled detection of rare transcripts in probe mixtures derived from 2 micrograms of total cellular messenger RNA.
