TLDR
In this paper, a fluid dynamical treatment of an ultra-relativistic spherical blast wave enclosed by a strong shock is presented, and a simple similarity solution describing the explosion of a fixed amount of energy in a uniform medium is derived, and generalized to include cases in which power is supplied by a central source and the density of the external medium varies with radius.
Abstract
A fluid dynamical treatment of an ultra‐relativistic spherical blast wave enclosed by a strong shock is presented. A simple similarity solution describing the explosion of a fixed amount of energy in a uniform medium is derived, and this is generalized to include cases in which power is supplied by a central source and the density of the external medium varies with radius. Radiative shocks, in which the escaping photons carry away momentum as well as energy, are also discussed. Formulas that interpolate between the non‐ and ultra‐relativistic limits are proposed.

The impact of kinetic effects on the properties of relativistic electron–positron shocks

TL;DR: In this paper, the impact of non-thermally shock-accelerated particles on the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) jump conditions of relativistic shocks is assessed.

A model for the high-energy emission from blazars

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the production of VHE emission in blazars as a superposition of a steady component from a baryonic jet, and a time-dependent contribution from an inner e-e+ beam launched by the black hole.

Could the Unusual Optical Afterglow of GRB 000301c Arise from a Non-relativistic Shock with Energy Injection?

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a non-standard model for the unusual R-band afterglow of GRB 000301c, where an ultra-relativistic shock in a dense medium (dirty environment) rapidly evolved to the non-relattivistic phase in initial 1 day.

Finding short GRB remnants in globular clusters: the VHE gamma-ray source in Terzan 5

TL;DR: In this article, a very high energy (VHE) gamma-ray source HESS J1747-248 was investigated for being a GRB remnant in the direction of the Galactic globular cluster Terzan 5 and the signatures created by the ultra-relativistic outflow, the sub-relati-vistic ejecta and the ionizing radiation of a short GRB were estimated for an expected age of such a remnant of t > 10^4 years.

A galactic microquasar mimicking winged radio galaxies.

TL;DR: Observational evidence is reported that the parsec-scale radio jets in the Galactic microquasar GRS 1758-258 give rise to a Z-shaped radio emission strongly reminiscent of the X and Z- shaped morphologies found in winged radio galaxies, providing a new analogy for its extragalactic relatives.

The Formation of a Blast Wave by a Very Intense Explosion. I. Theoretical Discussion

TL;DR: This paper has now been declassified, and though it has been superseded by more complete calculations, it seems appropriate to publish it as it was first written, without alteration, except for the omission of a few lines, the addition of this summary, and a comparison with some more recent experimental work as discussed by the authors.

Relativistic Rankine-Hugoniot Equations

TL;DR: In this paper, the relativistic form of the Rankine-Hugoniot equations are derived and it is shown that as a consequence of the inequality mentioned earlier that the shock wave velocity is always less than that of light in vacuum for sufficiently strong shocks.
