Comparative transcriptome analysis reveals molecular regulation of salt tolerance in two contrasting chickpea genotypes

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors examined the leaf transcriptome repertoire of Rupali and Genesis836 in control and salt-stressed conditions, and identified categories of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) describing the genotypic differences.
Journal ArticleDOI

Malate-mediated CqMADS68 enhances aluminum tolerance in quinoa seedlings through interaction with CqSTOP6, CqALMT6 and CqWRKY88.

TL;DR: In this paper , the alleviating effect and related mechanism of malate on Al stress in quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa) seedlings were investigated, and the findings indicated that malate alleviated the growth inhibition of quinoa seedlings under Al stress, maintained the enzymatic and nonenzymatic antioxidant systems, and aided resistance to the damage caused by excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS).

Physiological response of potato leaves to uniconazole under drought stress at tuber expansion period

TL;DR: In this paper , a completely random pot experiments with time gradients of 5, 10 and 15 d of drought treatment were carried out with uniconazole (40 mg L − 1 ) with respect to photosynthesis, active oxygen metabolism, antioxidant enzyme activity and the ascorbate-glutathione (AsA-GSH) cycle on potato leaves.
Journal ArticleDOI

Two canonically aerobic foraminifera express distinct peroxisomal and mitochondrial metabolisms

TL;DR: Revealing the metabolic roles of foraminifera in anaerobic biogeochemical cycling should spur reassessments of existing paleoecological datasets as well as new perspectives on the metabolic evolution of eukaryotic cells.

Oxidant and antioxidant signalling in plants: a re-evaluation of the concept of oxidative stress in a physiological context

TL;DR: It is proposed that the oxidative stress syndrome would be more usefully described as 'oxidative signalling', that is, an important and critical function associated with the mechanisms by which plant cells sense the environment and make appropriate adjustments to gene expression, metabolism and physiology.
Journal ArticleDOI

Glutathione in plants: an integrated overview.

TL;DR: How alterations in glutathione status, such as those observed during stress, may participate in signal transduction cascades are discussed and how these alterations are integrated to fine-tune photorespiratory and respiratory metabolism and to modulate phytohormone signalling pathways.
Journal ArticleDOI

Biotechnological approach of improving plant salt tolerance using antioxidants as markers.

TL;DR: The role of different antioxidants as potential selection criteria for improving plant salt tolerance has been critically discussed and the potential of this approach in counteracting stress-induced oxidative stress has been discussed at length in this review.
