TLDR
An overview of the structure, localization, biosynthesis, and significance of GSH and GR significance in abiotic stress (such as salinity, drought, clilling, heavy metal)-exposed crop plants is presented and also points out unexplored aspects in the current context for future studies.

Integrative expressional regulation of TaHKT2;1, TaNa+/H+ vacuolar antiporter, and TaSOS1 genes improve salt tolerance in gamma-ray induced bread wheat mutants

TL;DR: In this paper, the responses of advanced mutant lines to salt stress were examined and it was found that mutants' responses to salinity stress are related to an ability to accumulate K+ in cells with synergetic expressional regulation of TaHKT2;1, TaNa+/H+ vacuolar antiporter, and TaSOS1 genes, in addition to responses of antioxidant enzyme activities and the accumulation of proline.

Exogenous Betaine Enhances the Protrusion Vigor of Rice Seeds under Heat Stress by Regulating Plant Hormone Signal Transduction and Its Interaction Network

TL;DR: In this article , the effects of soaking seeds with betaine at different concentrations on rice seed germination under heat stress were explored, and the results revealed that 10 mM of betaine improved the activities of the superoxide dismutase, peroxidase and catalase of seed protrusion under heat stressed to reduce the malondialdehyde content and increase the soluble protein content.

Changes on Antioxidant Metabolites and Enzymes in Soybean Inoculated and Treated with Fungicides

TL;DR: It was demonstrated that a treatment of soybean seeds with rhizobium bacteria induces nodules formation and this induction was linked with a higher oxidized state of ascorbic acid, suggesting that an oxidative stress could occur during nodulation and that infected soybean plants could have a degree of tolerance to oxidation.

Oxidant and antioxidant signalling in plants: a re-evaluation of the concept of oxidative stress in a physiological context

TL;DR: It is proposed that the oxidative stress syndrome would be more usefully described as 'oxidative signalling', that is, an important and critical function associated with the mechanisms by which plant cells sense the environment and make appropriate adjustments to gene expression, metabolism and physiology.

Glutathione in plants: an integrated overview.

TL;DR: How alterations in glutathione status, such as those observed during stress, may participate in signal transduction cascades are discussed and how these alterations are integrated to fine-tune photorespiratory and respiratory metabolism and to modulate phytohormone signalling pathways.

Biotechnological approach of improving plant salt tolerance using antioxidants as markers.

TL;DR: The role of different antioxidants as potential selection criteria for improving plant salt tolerance has been critically discussed and the potential of this approach in counteracting stress-induced oxidative stress has been discussed at length in this review.
