Glutathione and glutathione reductase: a boon in disguise for plant abiotic stress defense operations

TLDR
An overview of the structure, localization, biosynthesis, and significance of GSH and GR significance in abiotic stress (such as salinity, drought, clilling, heavy metal)-exposed crop plants is presented and also points out unexplored aspects in the current context for future studies.

Proteomics and Phosphoproteomics of Heat Stress-Responsive Mechanisms in Spinach.

TL;DR: Heat adaptation mechanisms in a spinach sibling inbred heat-tolerant line Sp75 were investigated using physiological, proteomic, and phosphoproteomic approaches to form a heat stress-responsive metabolic atlas in spinach, which will springboard further investigations into the sophisticated molecular mechanisms of plant heat adaptation.

Single-bilayer graphene oxide sheet tolerance and glutathione redox system significance assessment in faba bean (Vicia faba L.)

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the Vicia faba-tolerance to different concentrations (0, 100, 200, 400, 800, and 1600) of graphene oxide (0.5-5μm) and evaluated the redox system significance in this context.

Modulation of Antioxidant Machinery and the Methylglyoxal Detoxification System in Selenium-Supplemented Brassica napus Seedlings Confers Tolerance to High Temperature Stress

TL;DR: It is concluded that exogenous Se application confers heat stress tolerance in rapeseed seedlings by upregulating the antioxidant defense mechanism and methylglyoxal detoxification system.

Antioxidant Response to Salinity in Salt-Tolerant and Salt-Susceptible Cultivars of Date Palm

TL;DR: In this paper, the role of various antioxidants in salinity tolerance in date palm was investigated, and it was shown that salinity treatment had a more substantial negative effect on the growth and photosynthetic pigmentation of the susceptible "Zabad" and "Umsila" date palm cultivars than on the more tolerant "Usila" cultivar, probably due to the ability of Umsila to accumulate less Na+ and more K+ to maintain a normal concentration of ROS and to produce more nonenzymatic antioxidants.

Oxidant and antioxidant signalling in plants: a re-evaluation of the concept of oxidative stress in a physiological context

TL;DR: It is proposed that the oxidative stress syndrome would be more usefully described as 'oxidative signalling', that is, an important and critical function associated with the mechanisms by which plant cells sense the environment and make appropriate adjustments to gene expression, metabolism and physiology.

Biotechnological approach of improving plant salt tolerance using antioxidants as markers.

TL;DR: The role of different antioxidants as potential selection criteria for improving plant salt tolerance has been critically discussed and the potential of this approach in counteracting stress-induced oxidative stress has been discussed at length in this review.
