Influence of cis-protecting groups toward ligand exchange reactions in polynuclear Pd(II)-based coordination cages

TLDR
In this paper, it was suggested that 2,2′-bipyridyl (bpy) is a better cis-protecting group for Pd(II)-based self-assembly coordination cage compounds particularly when dissolution of the assemblies in polar solvents and heating of the resultant solution is required.

Bottom-Up Construction of Mesoporous Nanotubes from 78-Component Self-Assembled Nanobarrels†

TL;DR: An unprecedented crystallization-driven cross-linking between discrete nanobarrel building units by spontaneous loss of the capping ligands to form infinite nanotubes was observed and provides new possibilities for the fabrication of MMONTs using the solution bottom-up approach.

1H, 13C and 15N nuclear magnetic resonance coordination shifts in Au(III), Pd(II) and Pt(II) chloride complexes with phenylpyridines

TL;DR: Con coordination shifts were discussed in relation to the type of the central atom (Au(III), Pd(II) and Pt(II), geometry (trans‐/cis‐) and the position of a phenyl group in the pyridine ring system.

High-symmetry coordination cages via self-assembly.

TL;DR: Using the directional-bonding methodology, this work has synthesized high-symmetry ensembles resembling the Platonic solids and the Archimedean solids, as well as other cages, like trigonal bipyramids, adamantanoids, and trigonal prisms.

Strategies for the Construction of Supramolecular Compounds through Coordination Chemistry

TL;DR: Three emerging synthetic strategies, the symmetry-interaction, directional-bonding, and weak-link synthetic approaches, all use metal centers as structural building blocks to rationally assemble molecular components into supramolecular metallocyclophanes.
