Journal ArticleDOI
Vortex flow and cavitation in diesel injector nozzles
TL;DR: In this article, high-speed images have revealed the formation of an unsteady vapour structure upstream of the injection holes inside the nozzle volume, referred to as string-cavitation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of cavitation phenomenon on primary break-up and spray behavior at stationary conditions
TL;DR: In this paper, a special technique for visualizing the first 1.5 mm of the spray has been applied to examine the link between cavitation phenomenon inside the nozzle and spray behavior in the near-nozzle field.
Journal ArticleDOI
Characterization of string cavitation in large-scale Diesel nozzles with tapered holes
TL;DR: The cavitation structures formed inside enlarged transparent replicas of tapered Diesel valve covered orifice nozzles have been characterized using high speed imaging visualization in this article, showing that the conical shape of converging tapered holes suppresses the formation of geometric cavitation, forming at the entry to the cylindrical injection hole, particularly at low needle lifts.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of the number and position of nozzle holes on in- and near-nozzle dynamic characteristics of diesel injection
TL;DR: In this paper, a propagation-based X-ray phase contrast imaging technique was applied to compare the transient needle motion and near-nozzle flow characteristics of single and multi-hole injectors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Study of cavitation phenomenon using different fuels in a transparent nozzle by hydraulic characterization and visualization
TL;DR: In this article, the influence of levantamiento de aguja in the proceso de inyeccion diesel was investigated in the context of the project "Estudio de la influencia del levant amiento of aguaja in el procesos de inyccion de diesel", which has been funded by Universidad Politecnica de Valencia from Spain.
