Improving the retrieval of the biophysical parameters of vegetation canopies using the contribution index
TL;DR: In this article, a contribution index was derived to quantify the effect of a given observation on the retrieval of model parameters of interest that accounted for both the uncertainty of this observation and its sensitivity to the model parameters.
Estimating grass nutrients and biomass as an indicator of rangeland (forage) quality and quantity using remote sensing in Savanna ecosystems

TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the discrimination among three nutritional levels in wheat crop using digital images and a portable chlorophyll meter and found that the classification using the machine vision techniques were better than the CHM at 8 DAF, since the Kappa coefficient was better than a random classification.

Validating the Predictive Power of Statistical Models in Retrieving Leaf Dry Matter Content of a Coastal Wetland from a Sentinel-2 Image
TL;DR: The findings demonstrate the feasibility of using Sentinel-2 surface reflectance data to map LDMC in a coastal wetland and assesses the performance of partial least squares regression (PLSR) plus 11 widely used vegetation indices (VIs), calculated based on different combinations of Sentinel- 2 bands, in predicting LDMC.

A soil-adjusted vegetation index (SAVI)
TL;DR: In this article, a transformation technique was presented to minimize soil brightness influences from spectral vegetation indices involving red and near-infrared (NIR) wavelengths, which nearly eliminated soil-induced variations in vegetation indices.

PROSPECT: A model of leaf optical properties spectra
TL;DR: In this paper, a radiative transfer model based on Allen's generalized plate model is proposed to represent the optical properties of plant leaves from 400 nm to 2500 nm, where spectral refractive index (n) and a parameter characterizing the leaf mesophyll structure (N) are used.
