Spectral analysis of coniferous foliage and possible links to soil chemistry: Are spectral chlorophyll indices related to forest floor dissolved organic C and N?

TL;DR: It is hypothesized that in a coniferous forest, chemistry of old foliage would better predict the chemical composition of the forest floor litter layer than younger foliage, which is the more physiologically active and the most likely to be captured by remote sensing of the canopy.

Off-Nadir Hyperspectral Sensing for Estimation of Vertical Profile of Leaf Chlorophyll Content within Wheat Canopies.

TL;DR: It is suggested that it is necessary to take into account the penetration characteristic of the light inside the canopy for different Chl absorption regions of the spectrum and the formula used to derive spectral index when estimating the vertical profile of leaf Chl content using off-nadir hyperspectral data.

Spectral assessment of two-spotted spider mite damage levels in the leaves of greenhouse-grown pepper and bean

TL;DR: This study shows that by using sub leaf spatial resolution early damage by TSSM can be spectrally detected and can be potentially applied for greenhouses as well as fields as an early detection method for T SSM management.

Estimation of Total Nitrogen Content in Forage Maize (Zea mays L.) Using Spectral Indices: Analysis by Random Forest

TL;DR: In this article, a Parrot Sequoia camera mounted on an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was used to collect high resolution images of forage maize study plots and 13 multispectral indices were generated and, from these, a Random Forest (RF) algorithm is used to estimate Nt.

ANALYSIS OF AIRBORNE HYPERSPECTRAL IMAGE USING VEGETATION INDICES, RED EDGE POSITION AND CONTINUUM REMOVAL FOR DETECTION OF Ganoderma DISEASE IN OIL PALM

TL;DR: In this paper, five common vegetation indices (VI), four red edge position (REP) and four continuum removal (CR) were applied to categorise oil palm into T1 (healthy), T2 (mild) and T3 (severe) infection of Ganoderma disease in oil palm.

A soil-adjusted vegetation index (SAVI)

TL;DR: In this article, a transformation technique was presented to minimize soil brightness influences from spectral vegetation indices involving red and near-infrared (NIR) wavelengths, which nearly eliminated soil-induced variations in vegetation indices.

Determination of accurate extinction coefficients and simultaneous equations for assaying chlorophylls a and b extracted with four different solvents: verification of the concentration of chlorophyll standards by atomic absorption spectroscopy

TL;DR: In this paper, the extinction coefficients for chlorophylls a and b in diethylether (Smith, J.H. and Benitez, A.V., eds.), used in this paper as primary standards, were verified by magnesium determination using atomic absorbance spectrophotometry.

PROSPECT: A model of leaf optical properties spectra

TL;DR: In this paper, a radiative transfer model based on Allen's generalized plate model is proposed to represent the optical properties of plant leaves from 400 nm to 2500 nm, where spectral refractive index (n) and a parameter characterizing the leaf mesophyll structure (N) are used.

Estimating Corn Leaf Chlorophyll Concentration from Leaf and Canopy Reflectance

TL;DR: In this paper, a wide range of leaf chlorophyll levels were established in field-grown corn (Zea mays L.) with the application of 8 N levels: 0, 12.5%, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, and 150% of the recommended rate.
