Interaction of biologically active molecules with phospholipid membranes. I. Fluorescence depolarization studies on the effect of polymeric biocide bearing biguanide groups in the main chain.
TLDR
On adding PHMB, the fluorescence polarization of diphenylhexatriene embedded in the negatively charged bilayers was reduced to a great extent, especially in the gel phase, interpreted in terms of PHMB-induced expansion and fluidization of the bilayer, which enables the probe molecule to undergo less-hindered torsional motion.About:

TL;DR: This mini-review briefly highlights and summarizes the results of studies during the past decade and especially in recent years, which concern the mechanism of action of different antimicrobial polymers and non-leaching microbicidal surfaces, and factors influencing their activity and toxicity, as well as major applications of antimicrobialpolymers.

Bacterial target sites for biocide action.
TL;DR: Understanding the mechanisms of action of biocides serves several purposes: it will help to design antimicrobial formulations with an improved antimicrobial efficacy and it will ensure the prevention of the emergence of microbial resistance.

Similarities and differences in the responses of microorganisms to biocides
TL;DR: Unlike antibiotics, biocides are multi-targeted antimicrobial agents and several of the damaging effects reported to occur in the most widely studied organisms, bacteria, may also take place to varying degrees in other organisms.

Dynamics of the Hydrocarbon Layer in Liposomes of Lecithin and Sphingomyelin Containing Dicetylphosphate
TL;DR: The determined dynamic properties of the hydrocarbon region in the lecithin liposomes differ markedly from those of the sphingomyelin liposome, which indicates that the forces which dictate the dynamic properties in the hydro carbon region in lipid bilayers predominantly originate from hydrophobic interactions.

TL;DR: The fluorescence deplorarization associated with the hydrophobic fluorescent probe 1,6-diphenyl-1,3,5-hexatriene is used to monitor changes in fluidity accompanying the gel-liquid crystalline phase transition in phosphatidylcholine dispersions, and phase diagrams are interpreted to suggest that the miscibilities of the lipids studied are markedly different in small, single-lamellar vesicles and large multilameLLar lip
