Zero-dimensional, one-dimensional, two-dimensional and three-dimensional nanostructured materials for advanced electrochemical energy devices

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors focus on recent progress in advanced nanostructured materials (NSMs) as building blocks for EEDs (such as fuel cells, supercapacitors, and Li-ion batteries) based on investigations at the 0D, 1D, 2D and 3D NSMs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Engineering a new class of thermal spray nano-based microstructures from agglomerated nanostructured particles, suspensions and solutions: an invited review

TL;DR: In this article, the authors presented two spray techniques used for manufacturing nanostructured coatings: thermal plasma and HVOF sensors developed for in-flight diagnostics of micrometre-sized particles and the interaction of a liquid and hot gas flow.
Journal ArticleDOI

fs/ns dual-pulse LIBS analytic survey for copper-based alloys

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect played by the delay times between the two laser beams can vary the analytical response of a dual-pulse LIBS configuration, and the results reveal, for the first time, that, by taking into account the role of the interpulse delay time between the laser beams, the fs/ns dualpulse LBS configuration here used can be improved and provide very good opportunities for performing quantitative analysis of copper-based alloys.
Journal ArticleDOI

Low-thermal-conductivity thermal barrier coatings with a multi-scale pore design and sintering resistance following thermal exposure

TL;DR: In this paper, the design, preparation, and serviceability evaluation of a low-thermal-conductivity anti-sintering coating is discussed, and directions for potential development are introduced.
Book ChapterDOI

Laser-Based Growth of Nanostructured Thin Films

TL;DR: In this article, the main parts of a pulsed laser deposition (PLD) system and the basic physical processes involved, as well as some laser processes for microstructural control of the grown materials are described.

Visible-Light Photocatalysis in Nitrogen-Doped Titanium Oxides

TL;DR: Film and powders of TiO2-x Nx have revealed an improvement over titanium dioxide (TiO2) under visible light in optical absorption and photocatalytic activity such as photodegradations of methylene blue and gaseous acetaldehyde and hydrophilicity of the film surface.
Journal ArticleDOI

Thin-film thermoelectric devices with high room-temperature figures of merit

TL;DR: Th thin-film thermoelectric materials are reported that demonstrate a significant enhancement in ZT at 300 K, compared to state-of-the-art bulk Bi2Te3 alloys, and the combination of performance, power density and speed achieved in these materials will lead to diverse technological applications.
Journal ArticleDOI

Size effect on the melting temperature of gold particles

TL;DR: In this article, the melting points of small gold particles have been measured using a scanning electron-diffraction technique and the experimental results are quantitatively in good agreement with two phenomenological models.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cubic AgPbmSbTe2+m: Bulk Thermoelectric Materials with High Figure of Merit

TL;DR: In the temperature range 600 to 900 kelvin, the AgPbmSbTe2+m material is expected to outperform all reported bulk thermoelectrics, thereby earmarking it as a material system for potential use in efficient thermoeLECTric power generation from heat sources.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nanostructured materials: basic concepts and microstructure☆

H. Gleiter
- 01 Jan 2000 -
TL;DR: In this article, the authors summarize the basic physical concepts and the microstructural features of equilibrium and non-equilibrium nanostructured materials (NsM) and make an attempt to summarize their properties.
