Level sets-based image segmentation approach using statistical shape priors

TLDR
A robust 3-D segmentation technique incorporated with the level sets concept and based on both shape and intensity constraints is introduced, which does not contain weighting parameters that need to be tuned and overcomes the drawbacks of other PDE approaches.

Multi-step medical image segmentation based on reinforcement learning

TL;DR: An end-to-end segmentation method for medical images, which mimics physicians delineating a region of interest (ROI) on the medical image in a multi-step manner is proposed, which improves the performance from a coarse result to a fine result progressively.

Review of Level Set in Image Segmentation

TL;DR: The function of curve evolution and original model of level set based on region and edge are derived, respectively, which are good at handling complex topologies and capturing boundary.

Two-stage image segmentation based on nonconvex ℓ2−ℓp approximation and thresholding

TL;DR: In this article, a two-stage image segmentation strategy based on the nonconvex l 2 − l p approximation of the Mumford-Shah (MS) model is proposed.

A Combined Deep-Learning and Lattice Boltzmann Model for Segmentation of the Hippocampus in MRI.

TL;DR: A semi-automatic model that combines a deep belief network (DBN) and the lattice Boltzmann (LB) method for the segmentation of HC has good correlation and consistency with the manual segmentation results.

Snakes : Active Contour Models

TL;DR: This work uses snakes for interactive interpretation, in which user-imposed constraint forces guide the snake near features of interest, and uses scale-space continuation to enlarge the capture region surrounding a feature.

Fronts propagating with curvature-dependent speed: algorithms based on Hamilton-Jacobi formulations

TL;DR: The PSC algorithm as mentioned in this paper approximates the Hamilton-Jacobi equations with parabolic right-hand-sides by using techniques from the hyperbolic conservation laws, which can be used also for more general surface motion problems.

Active appearance models

Abstract: We describe a new method of matching statistical models of appearance to images. A set of model parameters control modes of shape and gray-level variation learned from a training set. We construct an efficient iterative matching algorithm by learning the relationship between perturbations in the model parameters and the induced image errors.
