LIBSVM is a library for Support Vector Machines (SVMs). We have been actively developing this package since the year 2000. The goal is to help users to easily apply SVM to their applications. LIBSVM has gained wide popularity in machine learning and many other areas. In this article, we present all implementation details of LIBSVM. Issues such as solving SVM optimization problems theoretical convergence multiclass classification probability estimates and parameter selection are discussed in detail.read more

Patch-Based Convolutional Neural Network for Whole Slide Tissue Image Classification
TL;DR: A novel Expectation-Maximization (EM) based method is formulated that automatically locates discriminative patches robustly by utilizing the spatial relationships of patches and applies it to the classification of glioma and non-small-cell lung carcinoma cases into subtypes.

Why is Real-World Visual Object Recognition Hard?
TL;DR: It is shown that a simple V1-like model—a neuroscientist's “null” model—outperforms state-of-the-art object recognition systems (biologically inspired and otherwise) on a standard, ostensibly natural image recognition test.

TL;DR: This tutorial review aims to provide an introductory overview to several straightforward statistical methods such as principal component-discriminant function analysis (PC-DFA), support vector machines (SVM) and random forests (RF), which could very easily be used either to augment PLS or as alternative supervised learning methods to PLS-DA.

A comparison of methods for multiclass support vector machines
Hsu Chih-Wei,Chih-Jen Lin +1 more
TL;DR: Decomposition implementations for two "all-together" multiclass SVM methods are given and it is shown that for large problems methods by considering all data at once in general need fewer support vectors.
