Malignant transformation of oral lichen planus and oral lichenoid lesions: A meta-analysis of 20095 patient data.

TLDR
A higher incidence of malignant transformation was found among smokers, alcoholics, and HCV-infected patients; however, these associations should be further investigated.

Risk Factors for Malignant Transformation of Oral Lichen Planus

TL;DR: In this paper , a retrospective cohort of biopsy-confirmed oral lichen planus consecutively diagnosed in 1995-2014 and followed-up until 2017 was selected, and multivariate Cox proportional-hazards models were performed to evaluate clinical and pathological factors associated with progression to oral cancer.

Dental Implant and Oral Diseases

TL;DR: Dental implant recipients often have other oral diseases such as head and neck cancer, Sjogren’s syndrome, or oral lichen planus that may compromise implant treatment, so surgical strategies and restorative considerations along with prosthesis maintenance are discussed in detail in this chapter.

The T102C polymorphism of 5HT2A receptor in oral epithelial dysplasia: A pilot case-control study.

TL;DR: The T102C polymorphism of 5HT2A receptor in dysplasia in oral potentially malignant lesions and its association with smoking and alcohol habits in OPML is investigated and it is shown that individuals with smoking habits present 7.58 increase risk to develop Dysplasia than non-smokers; and individuals carrying the T allele for the T102 C polymorphism have a 4.6 increased risk.

Synergistic Efficacy of Plaque Control with Intralesional Triamcinolone Acetonide Injection on Erosive Non-Gingival Oral Lichen Planus: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

TL;DR: In conclusion, an improvement was observed in patients with plaque control, and future studies with larger sample sizes are needed to reinforce the external validity of this study.

Bias in meta-analysis detected by a simple, graphical test

TL;DR: Funnel plots, plots of the trials' effect estimates against sample size, are skewed and asymmetrical in the presence of publication bias and other biases Funnel plot asymmetry, measured by regression analysis, predicts discordance of results when meta-analyses are compared with single large trials.

Critical evaluation of the Newcastle-Ottawa scale for the assessment of the quality of nonrandomized studies in meta-analyses

TL;DR: The quality assessment of non-randomized studies is an important component of a thorough meta-analysis of non randomized studies and can dramatically influence the interpretation of meta-analyses, and can even reverse conclusions regarding the effectiveness of an intervention.

Insertion of specific bases during DNA synthesis past the oxidation-damaged base 8-oxodG.

TL;DR: DCMP and dAMP are incorporated selectively opposite 8-oxodG with transient inhibition of chain extension occurring 3' to the modified base, and the potentially mutagenic insertion of dAMP is targeted exclusively to the site of the lesion.
