TLDR
The second edition of this book is unique in that it focuses on methods for making formal statistical inference from all the models in an a priori set (Multi-Model Inference).Abstract:
Introduction * Information and Likelihood Theory: A Basis for Model Selection and Inference * Basic Use of the Information-Theoretic Approach * Formal Inference From More Than One Model: Multi-Model Inference (MMI) * Monte Carlo Insights and Extended Examples * Statistical Theory and Numerical Results * Summaryread more

Oil pollution and climate have wide-scale impacts on seabird demographics.
Stephen C. Votier,Ben J. Hatchwell,Andrew P. Beckerman,Robin H. McCleery,Fiona M. Hunter,Jayne Pellatt,Mark Trinder,Tim R. Birkhead +7 more
TL;DR: It is shown that over-winter survival of adult common guillemots (Uria aalge) is negatively affected by both the incidence of four major oil-spills in their wintering grounds and high values of the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) index.
Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in home range sizes and population densities of carnivore species along the natural to urban habitat gradient
TL;DR: Evidence is provided that the home range size of carnivores decreases in six out of eight species, and population density increases in three out of six species along the natural–urban habitat gradient, which emphasizes the remarkable ability of some carnivore species to adapt to novel environments through their behavioural flexibility and life history adaptations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Contemporary climate change alters the pace and drivers of extinction
Erik A. Beever,Chris Ray,Jennifer L. Wilkening,Jennifer L. Wilkening,Peter F. Brussard,Philip W. Mote +5 more
TL;DR: This paper used fine-scale distributional records developed over the past century, combined with spatially comprehensive microclimatic data, to demonstrate a dramatic shift in the range of a climate-sensitive mammal and to infer the increasingly important role of climate in local extinctions of this species across a 38.2 million-ha area.

Learning to simulate others' decisions.
Shinsuke Suzuki,Norihiro Harasawa,Kenichi Ueno,Justin L. Gardner,Noritaka Ichinohe,Masahiko Haruno,Kang Cheng,Hiroyuki Nakahara,Hiroyuki Nakahara +8 more
TL;DR: Simulation involves two learning signals in a hierarchical arrangement that uses a core prefrontal circuit for modeling the other's valuation to generate prediction and an adjunct circuit for tracking behavioral variation to refine prediction.

Population sizes, site fidelity and residence patterns of Australian snubfin and Indo-Pacific humpback dolphins: Implications for conservation
TL;DR: In this paper, photo-identification data collected between 1999 and 2002 in Cleveland Bay, northeast Queensland, to estimate abundance, site fidelity and residence patterns of these species in order to make recommendations for their effective conservation and management.
