TLDR
In this paper, a method has been developed for quantitative measurement of vegetation conditions over broad regions using ERTS-1 spectral bands 5 and 7, corrected for sun angle, which is shown to be correlated with aboveground green biomass on rangelands.
Abstract
The Great Plains Corridor rangeland project utilizes natural vegetation systems as phenological indicators of seasonal development and climatic effects upon regional growth conditions. A method has been developed for quantitative measurement of vegetation conditions over broad regions using ERTS-1 MSS data. Radiance values recorded in ERTS-1 spectral bands 5 and 7, corrected for sun angle, are used to compute a band ratio parameter which is shown to be correlated with aboveground green biomass on rangelands.

Mapping Maize Water Stress Based on UAV Multispectral Remote Sensing

TL;DR: Compared to CWSI calculated by on-site measurements, CWSI values retrieved by VI-CWSI regression models established in this study had more abilities to assess the field variability of crop and soil.

Normalised difference spectral indices and urban land cover as indicators of land surface temperature (LST)

TL;DR: Modification of tree and building cover may have the potential to regulate urban LST, and spectral indices using different combinations of the infrared bands have stronger correlations with LST than the more widely used vegetation indices such as NDVI.

Adjusting Midseason Nitrogen Rate Using a Sensor-Based Optimization Algorithm to Increase Use Efficiency in Corn

TL;DR: In this paper, an in-season nitrogen (N) fertilization optimization algorithm (NFOA) is proposed to estimate mid-season N rates that maximize corn (Zea mays L) growth and minimize fertilizer inputs.

Multi-Crop Green LAI Estimation with a New Simple Sentinel-2 LAI Index (SeLI).

TL;DR: The new Sentinel-2 LAIgreen Index (SeLI) was defined, a normalized index that uses the 705 nm and 865 nm centered bands, exploiting the red-edge region for low-saturating absorption sensitivity to photosynthetic vegetation.

Assessment of bank gully development and vegetation coverage on the Chinese Loess Plateau

TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper used QuickBird images (0.61m resolution) to delineate bank gully features, and a 5-m resolution digital elevation model was used to extract topographic factors.
