Abstract
Version 31 of the Generic Mapping Tools (GMT) has been released More than 6000 scientists worldwide are currently using this free, public domain collection of UNIX tools that contains programs serving a variety of research functions GMT allows users to manipulate (x,y) and (x,y,z) data, and generate PostScript illustrations, including simple x-y diagrams, contour maps, color images, and artificially illuminated, perspective, and/or shaded-relief plots using a variety of map projections (see Wessel and Smith [1991] and Wessel and Smith [1995], for details) GMT has been installed under UNIX on most types of workstations and both IBM-compatible and Macintosh personal computers

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors report spectacular exposures of normal fault surfaces as parts of the Manisa Fault -a?50-km-long northeastward arched active fault that defines the northwestern edge of the Gediz Graben, which is subsidiary to the Gebrekgraben, and demonstrate the mechanism responsible for the growth and evolution of large-scale corrugated normal faults in southwest Turkey.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used magnetotelluric studies of the Trans-Hudson orogen over the last two decades, prompted by the discovery of a significant conductivity anomaly beneath the North American Central Plains (NACP), from over 300 sites yield an extensive database for interrogation and enable three-dimensional information to be obtained about the geometry of the orogen from southern North Dakota to northern Saskatchewan.

Dynamics and implications of slab detachment due to ridge‐trench collision

TL;DR: In this article, the approach of a buoyant spreading ridge to a subduction zone may lead to detachment of a subducted slab, which is consistent with observations in Baja California, where detachment of the Cocos slab may explain abandonment of observed segments of the East Pacific Rise.
