TL;DR: In this paper, the authors have modeled regional kinematics with elastic and viscoelastic finite element models that incorporate laterally and vertically varying crustal material properties, and found that in general, the effects of the sedimentary basin on surface deformation are relatively small and that to explain the geodetic velocity data, the slip rate on the San Andreas must be higher than the San Jacinto fault, consistent with traditional geologic estimates.

Subsidence in intracontinental basins due to dynamic topography
TL;DR: In this article, the authors show that deep-Earth processes may contribute to the subsidence of these tectonically stable basins by analysing the Tertiary mantle convection-driven topography history of a global set of more than 220 intra-plate basins, integrated into a plate kinematic framework.
