Recirculation in multiple wave conversions

TL;DR: In this paper, a one-dimensional multiple wave-conversion model was constructed that allows energy recirculation in ray phase space using a modular eikonal approach, the connection coefficients for this model are calculated by ray phase-space methods.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nonlinear Instability of Bernstein Modes Pumped by an Electromagnetic Wave

R. N. Carlile
- 01 Jan 1972 -
TL;DR: The nonlinear decay instability of Bernstein modes pumped by an electromagnetic wave and the subsequent heating of the plasma electrons have been investigated by means of computer experiments as mentioned in this paper, and it was found that four pairs of Bernstein mode became unstable, and grew to large amplitudes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Amplification of ion cyclotron waves via high frequency electron plasma wave turbulence

TL;DR: In this paper, it was shown that the presence of high frequency electron plasma wave turbulence can nonlinearly amplify obliquely propagating, electrostatic, ion cyclotron modes.

Mode Conversion Processes in Magnetized Plasmas

Andrew Layden
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a number of investigations into mode conversion processes as they occur in magnetized plasmas, focusing on the magnetization of the Langmuir mode.
