Nonlocal Behavior of Ion Sound Instability in Collisionless Shock Wave

N. K. Bajaj, +1 more
- 01 Jan 1971 -
TL;DR: In this article, the stability of a magnetic pulse with respect to ion acoustic-electron drift waves is studied, using a realistic magnetic profile instead of the local approximation customarily analyzed.
Book ChapterDOI

Weak Langmuir Turbulence

TL;DR: In this paper, a theory of harmonic Langmuir wave generation is put forth and tested against the Vlasov simulation results, and it is found that the harmonic mode spectra can indeed exhibit quasi power-law feature, implying a multi-scale structure in both frequency and wave number space spanning several orders of magnitude.
Journal ArticleDOI

Inhomogeneity and nonlinearity effects on stop bands of Alfvénic ion cyclotron waves in multicomponent plasma

TL;DR: In this paper, the existence of stop bands for left-handed Alfvenic ion cyclotron waves propagating in the direction of magnetic field in a multicomponent plasma was studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Electromagnetic pulse propagation in a weakly nonlinear plasma

TL;DR: In this paper, the propagation of electromagnetic pulses in a weakly nonlinear, cold, collisionless plasma is described and a transverse electromagnetic pulse generates, through nonlinear effects, a small amplitude, longitudinal electric pulse field.
