Optimize heat prosumers' economic performance under current heating price models by using water tank thermal energy storage

TLDR
In this paper, a dynamic optimization problem was formulated to explore prosumers' economic potentials, and the size parameter of WTTESs was swept in prosumers to obtain the optimal storage size considering the trade-off between the payback period and the heating cost saving.

Nonlinear model predictive control for the space heating system of a university building in Norway

Juan Hou, +2 more
- 01 Apr 2022 -
TL;DR: In this article , the authors proposed a model-based predictive controller to improve the energy and economic performance of space heating systems with satisfying indoor temperature in a university building in central Norway, and its control performance was compared to a conventional rule-based control approach, which is currently employed by the case system.

Assessment of district heating and cooling systems transition with respect to future changes in demand profiles and renewable energy supplies

TL;DR: In this paper , a representative residential community in the Nordic district heating context, centralized district heating and cooling (DHC), ultra-low temperature district heating (ULTDH), and bi-directional fifth generation 5GDHC systems were assessed from technical, economical, and environmental aspects.
Journal ArticleDOI

The economic impacts of carbon emission trading scheme on building retrofits: A case study with U.S. medium office buildings

TL;DR: In this article , the authors proposed a systematic economic evaluation method to investigate the economic impacts of ETS on building retrofits, where the reduction of the payback period and the increase of the return on investment were adopted as evaluation metrics.
