Quantitative parameters of early human gingival inflammation
TLDR
Biopsies of marginal gingiva obtained still attached to extracted premolars 6–24 months after onset of tooth eruption from 10 children were processed according to standardized electron microscopic techniques and there was no statistically significant correlation between any of these parameters, and the % V VL and A I were not related to the time since onset of Tooth eruption.About:

Histometric Comparison of Active and Inactive Lesions of Advanced Periodontitis
TL;DR: This study examined the histopathologic features of advanced periodontitis lesions tentatively classified as active or inactive by the selected clinical criteria of bleeding or bleeding and suppuration within 15 seconds of probing or the absence of probing.

Morphometric analysis of cellular and vascular changes in gingival connective tissue in long-term insulin-dependent diabetes.
B. Seppälä,T. Sorsa,J. Ainamo +2 more
TL;DR: Findings that cellular, vascular, and connective tissue changes indicative of increased catabolism rather than anabolism detected in gingiva are especially associated with poorly controlled long-term insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus patients are found.

The effect of controlled oral hygiene and topical fluoride application on caries and gingivitis in Swedish schoolchildren.
Jan Lindhe,Per Axelsson +1 more
TL;DR: The results show that children given frequent oral prophylaxis combined with topical fluoride applications had clean teeth, only negligible signs of gingivitis, and practically no caries.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison between histological and clinical parameters during human experimental gingivitis.
TL;DR: It was concluded that GI scores and GEFR reflect histologic changes in tissue and, hence, are valid indicators of gingivitis development.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neutrophil leukocyte collagenase, elastase and serum protease inhibitors in human gingival crevices
TL;DR: Extra-cellular neutrophil collagenase and elastase were demonstrated by immunochemical methods in crevicular material from clinically healthy and chronically inflamed human gingivae and it was suggested that free activities of these two proteolytic enzymes might contribute to collagen break-down inGingivitis and periodontitis.

The chemotactic effect of mixtures of antibody and antigen on polymorphonuclear leucocytes.
TL;DR: Results are described which indicate that, when antibody-antigen complexes are incubated in fresh serum, a heat-stable substance (or substances) is produced which acts directly as a chemotactic stimulus on the polymorphs.
