H.E. Schroeder

- Vol. 15, Iss: 5, pp 383-400
TLDR
Biopsies of marginal gingiva obtained still attached to extracted premolars 6–24 months after onset of tooth eruption from 10 children were processed according to standardized electron microscopic techniques and there was no statistically significant correlation between any of these parameters, and the % V VL and A I were not related to the time since onset of Tooth eruption.

Journal ArticleDOI

The presence of bacteria within the oral epithelium in periodontal disease. I. A scanning and transmission electron microscopic study.

TL;DR: Tunnel-like formations at different depths of the oral epithelium contained higher numbers of bacteria than those seen on the adjacent oral surface.
Journal ArticleDOI

Enhanced emigration of crevicular leukocytes mediated by factors in human dental plaque.

TL;DR: The results showed that substances present in human dental plaque are highly chemotactic for neutrophil leukocytes and that a plaque filtrate may enhance vascular and cellular changes similar to those seen in incipient gingivitis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Variability of histologic criteria in clinically healthy human gingiva.

TL;DR: It appears realistic to accept the presence of a very mild gingivitis localized in an area adjacent to the attachment as compatible with gingival health.

Establishment of an oral infection model resembling the periodontal pocket in a perfusion bioreactor system

TL;DR: This novel host-biofilm interaction organotypic model might resemble theperiodontal pocket and have an important impact on the study of periodontal infections, by minimizing the need for the use of experimental animal models.
Journal ArticleDOI

The effect of experimental leukopenia on chronic gingival inflammation in dogs. 2. Induction of leukopenia by heterologous anti-neutrophil serum.

TL;DR: Previous suggestions that neutrophils at the dento-gingival junction contribute to the enzyme milieu in the gingival crevice and that these cells, through their lysosomal enzymes, may induce vascular damage in periodontitis are supported.

Improvements in epoxy resin embedding methods.

TL;DR: Epoxy embedding methods of Glauert and Kushida have been modified so as to yield rapid, reproducible, and convenientembedding methods for electron microscopy.

The chemotactic effect of mixtures of antibody and antigen on polymorphonuclear leucocytes.

TL;DR: Results are described which indicate that, when antibody-antigen complexes are incubated in fresh serum, a heat-stable substance (or substances) is produced which acts directly as a chemotactic stimulus on the polymorphs.
