Right ventricular dysfunction and risk of heart failure and mortality after myocardial infarction

TLDR
Right ventricular function is an independent predictor of death and the development of HF in patients with LV dysfunction after MI, after adjusting for age, gender, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, previous MI, LVEF, infarct size, cigarette smoking and treatment assignment.

Guidelines for the Echocardiographic Assessment of the Right Heart in Adults: A Report from the American Society of Echocardiography

TL;DR: This activity is designed for all cardiovascular physicians and cardiac sonographers with arest and knowledge base in the field of echocardiography and reschers, clinicians, intensivists, and other medical professionals with a spein cardiac ultrasound will find this activity beneficial.

Recommendations for chamber quantification

TL;DR: This document reviews the technical aspects on how to perform quantitative chamber measurements of morphology and function, which is a component of every complete echocardiographic examination.

Cardiac Endothelial-Myocardial Signaling: Its Role in Cardiac Growth, Contractile Performance, and Rhythmicity

TL;DR: In relation specifically to the endocardial endothelium, an active transendothelial physicochemical gradient for various ions, or blood-heart barrier, has been demonstrated, and linkage of this blood- heart barrier to the various other endothelia-mediated signaling pathways or to the putative vascular endothelialium-derived hyperpolarizing factors remains to be determined.

Risk Stratification and Survival after Myocardial Infarction

TL;DR: Univariate analyses showed a progressive increase in cardiac mortality during one year as the ejection fraction fell below 0.40 and as the number of ventricular ectopic depolarizations exceeded one per hour.

Independent and additive prognostic value of right ventricular systolic function and pulmonary artery pressure in patients with chronic heart failure

TL;DR: It was found that RVEF was preserved in some patients with pulmonary hypertension, and that the prognosis of these patients was similar to that of the patients with normal PAP, which emphasize the necessity of combining the right heart hemodynamic variables with a functional evaluation of the RV when trying to define the individual risk of patients with heart failure.

Assessment of right ventricular function using two-dimensional echocardiography☆

TL;DR: It is concluded that the measurement of TAPSE offers a simple echocardiographic parameter which reflects RVEF and is not dependent on either geometric assumptions or traceable endocardial edges.

Quantitative two-dimensional echocardiographic measurements are major predictors of adverse cardiovascular events after acute myocardial infarction. The protective effects of captopril.

TL;DR: This study demonstrates the linkage between attenuation of left ventricular enlargement by captopril after infarction and improved clinical outcome and two-dimensional echocardiography provides important and independent prognostic information in patients afterinfarction.
