TLDR
By using an operator description, the spectrum of a symmetric two-mirror resonator in the presence of spherical aberration is derived.

Etude et conception d'une cavité Fabry-Perot de haute finesse pour la source compacte de rayons X ThomX

Pierre Favier
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a source of rayons X en construction a l'Universite Paris-Sud, ThomX, which utilises un faisceau d'electrons of 50 MeV interagit a 16,7 MHz avec an impulsion laser of quelques picosecondes, permettant de produire des rays X entre 30 and 50 keV avec un flux de 10^{13} ph/s.

Calculating the fine structure of a Fabry-Perot resonator using spheroidal wave functions

TL;DR: A new set of vector solutions to Maxwell's equations based on solutions to the wave equation in spheroidal coordinates allows laser beams to be described beyond the paraxial approximation and calculates the complete first-order corrections in the short-wavelength limit to eigenmodes and eigenfrequencies in a Fabry-Perot resonator with perfectly conducting mirrors.

Aberrated optical cavities

TL;DR: In this article, the authors compute the mode spectrum of optical resonators, allowing for both non-paraxial beam propagation and beyond-quadratic mirrors and lenses, and further validate their approach by comparison to a family of nonplanar lens cavities realized in the laboratory.

Imperfect Fabry-Perot resonators

TL;DR: In this article, a diamond-machined bifocal mirror was used to demonstrate chaos in an open two-mirror resonator, which is not fabricated by traditional grinding and polishing, but by diamondmachining.

Helical-wavefront laser beams produced with a spiral phaseplate

TL;DR: In this paper, a spiral phaseplate can convert a TEM00 laser beam into a helical wavefront beam with a phase singularity at its axis, and the diffractive-optical effect of the spiral phase plate is implemented by index matching a macroscopic structure in an optical immersion.

From Maxwell to paraxial wave optics

TL;DR: In this paper, the paraxial approximation to the exact Maxwell equations is shown to be incompatible with the exact equations of light beam propagation through an inhomogeneous, isotropic medium with a possibly nonlinear index of refraction.

Lie Algebraic Solution of Linear Differential Equations

TL;DR: In this paper, a finite product of exponential operators for the linear differential equation dU/dt = h(t)U can be represented as a Lie algebra and the number of terms in this expansion is equal to the dimension of the Lie algebra generated by H(t).
