TLDR
In this article, the authors demonstrated that neutron absorption in one of the two beam paths of a neutron interferometer gives different interference patterns with static and with time-dependent absorption even when the time-averaged absorption is the same.

Simultaneous wave and particle knowledge in a neutron interferometer

TL;DR: In this article, the authors give a measure of particle knowledge in a neutron interferometer that reflects one's ability to predict in which beam a neutron is located, and extend the discussion to partially coherent beams.

Bibliographic guide to the foundations of quantum mechanics and quantum information

TL;DR: A collection of references (papers, books, preprints, book reviews, Ph. D. thesis, patents, web sites, etc.), sorted alphabetically and classified by subject, on foundations of quantum mechanics and quantum information can be found in this article.
Journal ArticleDOI

Quantitative wave-particle duality and nonerasing quantum erasure

TL;DR: The notion of wave-particle duality may be quantified by the inequality as mentioned in this paper relating interference fringe visibility V, and path knowledge K with a single-photon interferometer in which polarization is used to label the paths, including pure, mixed, and partially mixed input states.
Journal ArticleDOI

Quantitative quantum erasure

TL;DR: In this paper, a quantum eraser is used to achieve large fringe visibility in sorted subensembles, where the achieved visibility depends on the specific sorting scheme and the sorting procedure under general circumstances.
Journal ArticleDOI

Paradox in Wave-Particle Duality

TL;DR: In this article, the authors report on the simultaneous determination of complementary wave and particle aspects of light in a double-slit type "welcher-weg" experiment beyond the limitations set by Bohr's Principle of Complementarity.

Test of a single crystal neutron interferometer

TL;DR: In this paper, the interference of two widely separated coherent neutron beams produced by dynamical diffraction in a perfect Si-crystal has been observed, and phase shifting material inserted in the beams results in a marked intensity modulation behind the interferometer.
Journal ArticleDOI

The neutron interferometer as a device for illustrating the strange behavior of quantum systems

TL;DR: In this paper, a simple mathematical model of the interferometer, which can be used to illustrate clearly many of the surprising features of quantum systems, is presented, which is suitable for bright undergraduates and first-year graduate students.

Theory of the Refraction and the Diffraction of Neutrons by Crystals

TL;DR: In this article, the elastic scattering of neutrons by a single crystal, governing simple refraction, reflection, and Laue-Bragg scattering, is derived under the assumption that the scattering and absorption cross sections are independent of spin.
Journal ArticleDOI

Direct Measurement of the Longitudinal Coherence Length of a Thermal Neutron Beam

TL;DR: When a series of aluminum slabs are placed in one leg of a perfect-silicon-crystal neutron interferometer, a continuous and significant loss of contrast is observed as mentioned in this paper.
