TLDR
In the spliceosome, the pre-mRNA, U2 and U6 snRNAs fold into a catalytic structure exhibiting striking similarities with domain V and VI of group II introns, which implies that an evolutionary conserved base pairing between U4 and U 6 sn RNAs should be disrupted to allow potentially U6 catalytic residue to interact with U2 snRNAAs and the pre,mRNA.

Genome-wide analysis of alternative splicing of pre-mRNA under salt stress in Arabidopsis.

TL;DR: This study provided a comprehensive view of AS under salt stress and revealed novel insights into the potential roles of AS in plant response to salt stress, suggesting a complex loop in AS regulation for stress adaptation.

The 3' end formation in small RNAs.

TL;DR: This review presents a picture of both degradative and rebuilding reactions operative on the 3' end of some small RNA molecules in prokaryotes and eukaryotes.

Formation of 2′,3′-Cyclic Phosphates at the 3′ End of Human U6 Small Nuclear RNA in Vitro IDENTIFICATION OF 2′,3′-CYCLIC PHOSPHATES AT THE 3′ ENDS OF HUMAN SIGNAL RECOGNITION PARTICLE AND MITOCHONDRIAL RNA PROCESSING RNAs

TL;DR: The formation of U>p in U6 snRNA is unlikely to be related to its participation in splicing of pre-mRNAs, and it appears that cyclic phosphate is an intermediate product in the metabolism of these small RNAs.

RNA–RNA interaction prediction based on multiple sequence alignments

TL;DR: Compared to the single sequence-pair folding algorithm rip, ripalign requires negligible additional memory resource but offers much better sensitivity and specificity, once alignments of suitable quality are given.

RNA-RNA interaction prediction based on multiple sequence alignments

TL;DR: In this article, Reidys et al. presented the \emph{a priori} folding algorithm \texttt{ripalign, whose input consists of two (given) multiple sequence alignments (MSA), which outputs the partition function, base-pairing probabilities, hybrid probabilities and a set of Boltzmann-sampled suboptimal structures consisting of canonical joint structures that are compatible to the alignments.

The Clk/Sty protein kinase phosphorylates SR splicing factors and regulates their intranuclear distribution.

TL;DR: Results suggest that Clk/Sty kinase directly regulates the activity and compartmentalization of SR splicing factors.
Journal ArticleDOI

A serine kinase regulates intracellular localization of splicing factors in the cell cycle.

TL;DR: The results indicate that SRPK1 may have a central role in the regulatory network for splicing, controlling the intranuclear distribution of splicing factors in interphase cells, and the reorganization of nuclear speckles during mitosis.

Structure and Function of Major and Minor Small Nuclear Ribonucleoprotein Particles

TL;DR: This work has shown clear trends in the recruitment and degradation of U-snRNPs towards ‘spiking’ in the presence of ribonuclease P, and these trends are likely to be related to each other.
