Effect of organic selenium and zinc supplementation on fertility and hatchability of turkey eggs

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of organic selenium (Se-yeast, 0.20mg Se) and zinc (as zinc oxide) on fertility and hatchability of indigenous turkey eggs were evaluated.

Impact of extender supplementation with tomato juice on semen quality of chicken semen during liquid storage

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of tomato juice inclusion in semen extender on sperm characteristics during in vitro storage of chickens' semen were evaluated and the results showed that adding tomato juice up to 8 ml per 100 ml of extender significantly increased mass activity and individual motility percentages.

Effect of tempol on post-thaw semen parameters and fertility during chicken semen cryopreservation

M. Shanmugam, +1 more
- 01 Apr 2022 -
TL;DR: Adding tempol to cryopreservation mixture did not improve the post-thaw semen parameters or fertility, and fertilizing potential of the cryop Reserved sperm was evaluated after insemination in the PD-1 line hens.

A Method of Obtaining Spermatozoa from the Domestic Fowl

W. H. Burrows, +1 more
- 01 Jul 1935 -
TL;DR: The method presented in this paper consists of a manual elicitation of an ejaculatory response which is undoubtedly reflex in nature and can be obtained in a short period of time.

Selective Fertilization in Fowls

L. C. Dunn
- 01 Jun 1927 -
TL;DR: An attempt was made to find out whether there was any selective preference in the union of sperm and egg cells in poultry, and it was found that self-fertilization was more effective or easier to make than cross fertilization.

The Influence of Certain Feeds Upon the Production of Spermatozoa by the Domestic Chicken

TL;DR: Experimental studies pertaining to the factors which may influence fertility in poultry have been limited to hatchability thus far, and for obvious reasons such studies have been confined to the female.
Journal ArticleDOI

A study of the spermatozoon of the fowl, with particular reference to osmiophilic bodies in the sperm head

TL;DR: The purpose of this study was to learn something of the nature of the bead‐like bodies which occur in the head of the sperm of the fowl since it was found in a previous study that they are apparently affected in a characteristic manner by vitamin E deficiency.
