TL;DR: The present investigation confirms that testicular spermatozoa of quail and turkey as well as chicken do not have any surface determinants in common with those present in Wolffian duct secretions, and is consistent with the possibility that they have some role in sperm storage or survival in female birds.

TL;DR: This study demonstrates that urine contamination, a common and lethal acidifier in manually collected raptor ejaculates, can be circumvented by immediate, gentle seminal washing and these processed sperm, when deposited by transjunctional intramagnal insemination, can produce live young.
