TLDR
Human fetal liver microsomes were shown to contain the components of the NADPH- and NADH-linked electron transport systems, but the system was capable of hydroxylating testosterone and laurate, but unable to oxidize exogenous substrates such as 3, 4-benzpyrene and aminopyrine.

Congenital malformations due to antiepileptic drugs

TL;DR: The results indicate that the increased incidence of congenital malformations was caused primarily by AEDs, suggesting that mal Formations can be prevented by improvements in drug regimen, and by avoiding polypharmacy and high levels of VPA in the treatment of epileptic women of childbearimg age.

Biotransformation of xenobiotics in the fetus

TL;DR: It seems that many hydrolytic as well as conjugative reactions are active in human fetal liver, and several activation reactions have been uncovered and they may have important implications with respect to fetal toxicology, teratology and transplacental carcinogenesis.

Cytochrome P450‐mediated metabolism in the human gut wall

TL;DR: The current state of knowledge of CYP enzyme expression in human small intestine, the role of the gut wall in CYP-mediated metabolism, and how this metabolism limits the bioavailability of orally administered drugs are reviewed.

Fetus-specific expression of a form of cytochrome P-450 in human livers.

TL;DR: Results indicate that P- 450(HFL33) is expressed specifically in fetal livers and that neither P-450NF nor HLp is expressed in fetalLivers, but one or both are expressed in adult livers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Expression patterns of mouse and human CYP orthologs (families 1-4) during development and in different adult tissues.

TL;DR: The present study compared the relative expression pattern of 10 orthologous CYP forms from families 1-4 in cDNA panels of human and mouse fetal and adult tissues to suggest possible involvement in development.

Protein Measurement with the Folin Phenol Reagent

TL;DR: Procedures are described for measuring protein in solution or after precipitation with acids or other agents, and for the determination of as little as 0.2 gamma of protein.

Spectral studies of drug interaction with hepatic microsomal cytochrome.

TL;DR: Two types of spectral changes are described as resulting from substrate interaction with a hepatic microsomal cytochrome; the magnitude of these spectral changes is dependent on protein concentration and substrate concentration as well as the substrate employed.

ENZYME-STRUCTURE RELATIONSHIPS IN THE ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM OF RAT LIVER : A Morphological and Biochemical Study

TL;DR: It is reached that certain enzymes of the endoplasmic reticulum are tightly bound to the membranes, whereas others either are loosely bound or are present in a soluble form within the lumina of the system.

BIOGENESIS OF ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM MEMBRANES : II. Synthesis of Constitutive Microsomal Enzymes in Developing Rat Hepatocyte

TL;DR: The results suggest that during development the enzymic pattern is not influenced by the fatty acid or phospholipid composition of ER membranes, and the enzymes are synthesized in the rough part, then transferred to the smooth part, of the ER.

Photochemical Action Spectrum of the Terminal Oxidase of Mixed Function Oxidase Systems

TL;DR: The agreement between photochemical action spectrum and spectrophotometric difference spectrum supports the conclusion that the CO-binding pigment is the terminal oxidase of mixed function oxidase systems of mammals.
