TL;DR: In this article, the x-ray photo-electron spectroscopy (XPS) study of Na and K adlayers on icosahedral quasicrystal was performed and it was shown that the Na $1s$ core-level exhibits a continuous linear shift towards lower binding energies with increasing coverage up to one monolayer saturation coverage.
