Where am I? The neurological correlates of self and other.

TLDR
Data support a model developed over two decades ago by Gallup that posits that self-awareness and mental state attribution are part of a shared neurocognitive suite of processing and that neural architecture implicated in processing knowledge about the self is called upon when inferring knowledge in others.

Self-referential processing in our brain--a meta-analysis of imaging studies on the self.

TL;DR: It is concluded that self-referential processing in CMS constitutes the core of the authors' self and is critical for elaborating experiential feelings of self, uniting several distinct concepts evident in current neuroscience.

The common neural basis of autobiographical memory, prospection, navigation, theory of mind, and the default mode: A quantitative meta-analysis

TL;DR: In this paper, a core brain network has been proposed to underlie a number of different processes, including remembering, prospection, navigation, and theory of mind, which has been argued to represent self-projection.

For Review Only The common neural basis of autobiographical memory, prospection, navigation, theory of mind and the default mode: a quantitative meta- analysis

TL;DR: Autobiographical memory, prospection, theory of mind, and default mode demonstrated further reliable involvement of the medial prefrontal cortex and lateral temporal cortices, and this study revealed that the core network extends to lateral prefrontal and occipital cortices.
Journal ArticleDOI

Social cognition and the brain: a meta-analysis.

TL;DR: The results suggest that inferring temporary states such as goals, intentions, and desires of other people-even when they are false and unjust from the authors' own perspective--strongly engages the temporo-parietal junction (TPJ) and the medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) in social cognition.
Journal ArticleDOI

Meditation States and Traits: EEG, ERP, and Neuroimaging Studies.

TL;DR: Psychological and clinical effects of meditation are summarized, integrated, and discussed with respect to neuroimaging data, and meditation appears to reflect changes in anterior cingulate cortex and dorsolateral prefrontal areas.

The assessment and analysis of handedness: The Edinburgh inventory

TL;DR: An inventory of 20 items with a set of instructions and response- and computational-conventions is proposed and the results obtained from a young adult population numbering some 1100 individuals are reported.

The ''Reading the Mind in the Eyes'' Test Revised Version: A Study with Normal Adults, and Adults with Asperger Syndrome or High-functioning Autism

TL;DR: The Revised Eyes Test has improved power to detect subtle individual differences in social sensitivity and was inversely correlated with the Autism Spectrum Quotient (the AQ), a measure of autistic traits in adults of normal intelligence.
Journal ArticleDOI

Theory of mind.

TL;DR: For example, Frith as discussed by the authors showed that children with autism have a specific problem with theory-of-mind tasks, such as looking for the hidden chocolate in the cupboard.

Theory of Mind

Uta Frith
TL;DR: Only from age five or so do children show full understanding of the situation and become able to explain exactly why Maxi has a false belief, and even 15-month-olds can be shown to have an inkling of what is going on.
