Journal ArticleDOI
Effective Control of Epstein-Barr Virus–Related Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis With Immunochemotherapy
Shinsaku Imashuku,Shigeyoshi Hibi,Toshio Ohara,Asayuki Iwai,Masahiro Sako,Masahiko Kato,Hirokazu Arakawa,Manabu Sotomatsu,Satoshi Kataoka,Keiko Asami,Daijiro Hasegawa,Yoshiyuki Kosaka,Kimihiko Sano,Noboru Igarashi,Keiko Maruhashi,Ryouji Ichimi,Hajime Kawasaki,Naoko Maeda,Akihiko Tanizawa,Koji Arai,Takanori Abe,Hiroaki Hisakawa,Hidemasa Miyashita,Jan-Inge Henter +23 more
TL;DR: Effective control (and perhaps cure) of the majority of EBV-HLH cases without bone marrow transplantation, using steroids and etoposide, with or without immunomodulatory agents is shown.
Journal ArticleDOI
Distinct Impact of Imatinib on Growth at Prepubertal and Pubertal Ages of Children with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia
Haruko Shima,Mika Tokuyama,Akihiko Tanizawa,Chikako Tono,Kazuko Hamamoto,Hideki Muramatsu,Akihiro Watanabe,Noriko Hotta,Masaki Ito,Hidemitsu Kurosawa,Koji Kato,Masahito Tsurusawa,Keizo Horibe,Hiroyuki Shimada +13 more
TL;DR: Growth impairment was a major adverse effect of long-term imatinib treatment in children with chronic myeloid leukemia and the distinct inhibitory effect ofImatinib on growth in prepubertal and pubertal children with CML is reported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transient MR signal changes in the splenium of the corpus callosum in rotavirus encephalopathy: value of diffusion-weighted imaging.
Ritsuyo Kobata,Hirokazu Tsukahara,Akio Nakai,Akihiko Tanizawa,Yoshiyuki Ishimori,Yasutaka Kawamura,Hiroshi Ushijima,Mitsufumi Mayumi +7 more
TL;DR: The lesion in the splenium of the corpus callosum showed restricted proton diffusion, suggesting local cytotoxic edema, and diffusion-weighted MRI demonstrated the lesion more conspicuously than other techniques, such as fluid-attenuated inversion-recovery and T1- and T2- weighted images.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inhibition of both etoposide-induced DNA fragmentation and activation of poly(ADP-ribose) synthesis by zinc ion.
Tsunehiro Shimizu,Masaru Kubota,Akihiko Tanizawa,Hirohiko Sano,Yasufumi Kasai,Hisako Hashimoto,Yuichi Akiyama,Haruki Mikawa +7 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that zinc ion inhibits a metabolic process somewhere between initial DNA cleavage through an interference with type II topoisomerase and delayed degradation of cellular DNA to a nucleosome-like pattern.
Journal Article
Biochemical characterization of U937 cells resistant to L-asparaginase: the role of asparagine synthetase.
Kiriyama Y,Masaru Kubota,Tetsuya Takimoto,Toshiyuki Kitoh,Akihiko Tanizawa,Yuichi Akiyama,Haruki Mikawa +6 more
TL;DR: The results altogether clarify the role of asparagine synthetase in L-asparaginase toxicity and have a good implication for the clinical use of L- asparagenase.
