Journal ArticleDOI
The HELLAS2XMM survey – XII. The infrared/submillimetre view of an X-ray selected type 2 quasar at z≈ 2
C. Vignali,C. Vignali,Francesca Pozzi,Jacopo Fritz,Andrea Comastri,Carlotta Gruppioni,E. Bellocchi,E. Bellocchi,Fabrizio Fiore,Marcella Brusa,Roberto Maiolino,M. Mignoli,F. La Franca,Lucia Pozzetti,G. Zamorani,Andrea Merloni +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present multi-wavelength observations (from optical to sub-millimeter, including Spitzer and SCUBA) of H2XMMJ 003357.
Journal ArticleDOI
Discovery of the first heavily obscured QSO candidate at z > 6 in a close galaxy pair
Fabio Vito,W. N. Brandt,Franz E. Bauer,Franz E. Bauer,Roberto Gilli,Bin Luo,Gianni Zamorani,Francesco Calura,Andrea Comastri,Chiara Mazzucchelli,M. Mignoli,Riccardo Nanni,Ohad Shemmer,Cristian Vignali,Marcella Brusa,Nico Cappelluti,Francesca Civano,Marta Volonteri +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors reported the discovery of the first heavily obscured QSO candidate in the early universe, hosted by a close (≈5 kpc) galaxy pair at z ǫ = 6.515.
Journal ArticleDOI
The X-ray properties of $z>6$ quasars: no evident evolution of accretion physics in the first Gyr of the Universe
Fabio Vito,W. N. Brandt,Franz E. Bauer,Franz E. Bauer,Franz E. Bauer,Francesco Calura,Roberto Gilli,Bin Luo,Ohad Shemmer,Cristian Vignali,Gianni Zamorani,Marcella Brusa,Francesca Civano,Andrea Comastri,Riccardo Nanni +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, Chandra observations of 10 $z>6$ QSOs, selected to have virial black-hole mass estimates from Mg II line spectroscopy, were used to investigate the X-ray properties of the QSO population in the first Gyr of the Universe, focusing in particular on the $L_{UV}-L_{X}$ relation, which is traced by the $\alpha_{ox}$ parameter, and the shape of their Xray spectra.
Journal ArticleDOI
The XMM-Newton view of IRAS 09104+4109: evidence for a changing-look Type 2 quasar?
Enrico Piconcelli,Fabrizio Fiore,Fabrizio Nicastro,Fabrizio Nicastro,Smita Mathur,Marcella Brusa,Andrea Comastri,Simonetta Puccetti +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, a 14 ks XMM-Newton observation of the hyperluminous infrared galaxy IRAS 09104+4109, which harbors a type 2 quasar in its nucleus, was used to study the properties of absorbing matter and the Fe K complex at 6-7 keV in this source.
Journal ArticleDOI
BeppoSAX observations of Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 galaxies. II. Ionized iron features in Arakelian 564
Andrea Comastri,G. M. Stirpe,Cristian Vignali,W. N. Brandt,Karen M. Leighly,Fabrizio Fiore,Fabrizio Fiore,Matteo Guainazzi,Giorgio Matt,Fabrizio Nicastro,E. M. Puchnarewicz,Aneta Siemiginowska +11 more
TL;DR: The BeppoSAX observations of the bright Narrow-line Seyfert 1 galaxy Ark 564 are presented along with a high quality optical spectrum taken at the 1.5m telescope at La Silla.
