Journal ArticleDOI
Isolation of leukocytes from frozen buffy coat for comet assay analysis of DNA damage.
TL;DR: The results indicate that buffy coat samples stored from cohort studies might be usefully analysed for DNA damage in retrospective epidemiological investigations, however, caution should be exercised when comparing the absolute levels of DNADamage inbuffy coat leukocytes and peripheral blood mononuclear cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genomic heterogeneity underlies multidrug resistance in Pseudomonas aeruginosa: A population-level analysis beyond susceptibility testing
Laura J. Rojas,Mohamad Yasmin,Jacquelynn Benjamino,Steven M Marshall,Kailynn J. DeRonde,Nikhil Krishnan,Federico Perez,Andrew Collins,Monica Cardenas,Octavio Martinez,Armando Perez-Cardona,Daniel D. Rhoads,Michael R. Jacobs,John J. LiPuma,Michael W. Konstan,Alejandro J. Vila,Andrea M. Smania,Andrew R. Mack,Jacob G. Scott,Mark D. Adams,Lilian M. Abbo,Robert A. Bonomo +21 more
TL;DR: The authors' analyses revealed significant underlying genomic heterogeneity and unpredictable evolutionary patterns that were independent of prior antibiotic treatment, highlighting the need for comprehensive sampling and population-level analysis when gathering microbiological data in the context of CF P. aeruginosa chronic infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Segregation analysis of complex phenotypes: An application to schizophrenia and auditory P300 latency
Pak C. Sham,Newton E. Morton,Walter J. Muir,M. Walker,Andrew Collins,Denis C. Shields,D St Clair,Douglas Blackwood +7 more
TL;DR: A new model for complex phenotypes is described, implemented in the program COMDS, which subclassifies normal and affected individuals into polychotomies correlated with the underlying genetic liability to the disorder.
Journal ArticleDOI
LDB2000: sequence-based integrated maps of the human genome.
TL;DR: Algorithms and their implementation for constructing sequence-based integrated maps of the human chromosomes, which are presented in LDB2000, a web based resource, are described.
