Vermote,Martin Veselsky,Cyrillus Wagemans,Takatoshi Ichikawa,Akira Iwamoto,Peter Möller,Arnold J. Sierk +31 more
TL;DR: A new type of asymmetric fission, not caused by large shell effects related to fragment magic proton and neutron numbers, as observed in the actinide region, is studied by using resonant laser ionization with subsequent mass separation at ISOLDE (CERN).
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The Miniball germanium detector array has been operational at the REX (Radioactive ion beam EXperiment) post accelerator at the Isotope Separator On-Line facility ISOLDE at CERN since 2001.
Journal ArticleDOI

Veinhard,E. Verstraelen,A. Welker,Klaus Wendt,Frank Wienholtz,Robert Wolf,A. Zadvornaya,Kai Zuber +50 more
TL;DR: In this article, the shape-staggering in the even-mass lead isotopes and odd-mass mercury isotopes was investigated and it was concluded that this phenomenon results from the interplay between monopole and quadrupole interactions driving a quantum phase transition.
Journal ArticleDOI
Measurement of the first ionization potential of astatine by laser ionization spectroscopy
Sebastian Rothe,Sebastian Rothe,Andrei Andreyev,S. Antalic,Anastasia Borschevsky,L. Capponi,Thomas Elias Cocolios,H. De Witte,Ephraim Eliav,D. V. Fedorov,V. N. Fedosseev,D. A. Sjödin,P. Van den Bergh,P. Van Duppen,M. Venhart,Yasuo Wakabayashi,Klaus Wendt +45 more
TL;DR: The observed series of Rydberg states enabled the first determination of the ionization potential of the astatine atom, 9.31751(8) eV, which serves as a benchmark for quantum chemistry calculations of the properties of ast atine as well as for the theoretical prediction of the ionship potential of superheavy element 117.
Journal ArticleDOI
A complementary laser system for ISOLDE RILIS
TL;DR: The Resonance Ionization Laser Ion Source (RILISOLIS) is a powerful tool for efficient and selective production of radioactive ion beams at Isotope Separator On Line (ISOL) facilities as mentioned in this paper.
