TL;DR: A quantitative synthesis of longterm biodiversity trends across Europe is reported, showing how, despite overall increase in biodiversity metric and stability in abundance, trends differ between regions, ecosystem types, and taxa.
Journal ArticleDOI
Measuring, modelling and testing ozone exposure, flux and effects on vegetation in southern European conditions--what does not work? A review from Italy.
Marco Ferretti,M. Fagnano,Tiziana Amoriello,Maurizio Badiani,A. Ballarin-Denti,A. Buffoni,Filippo Bussotti,Antonella Castagna,S. Cieslik,A Costantini,A. De Marco,Giacomo Gerosa,Giacomo Lorenzini,Fausto Manes,G. Merola,Cristina Nali,Elena Paoletti,Bruno Petriccione,S. Racalbuto,Gianfranco Rana,Annamaria Ranieri,A. Tagliaferri,G. Vialetto,Marcello Vitale +23 more
TL;DR: Levels, uptake and vegetation response to O3 in Italy over recent years are reviewed to discuss value, uncertainty and feasibility of different approaches to risk assessment and suggest that critical levels based on accumulated stomatal flux (CLe(f)) can be a better predictor of O3 risk than CLe(c).
Journal ArticleDOI
Ozone and forests in South-Western Europe.
Marco Ferretti,Filippo Bussotti,Vicent Calatayud,Marcus Schaub,Norbert Kräuchi,Bruno Petriccione,Gerardo Sanchez-Peña,María José Sanz,Erwin Ulrich +8 more
TL;DR: The O3SWE project aims to demonstrate how, using data collected routinely in an intensive forest monitoring network, O3 exposure, flux and effects can be assessed and exceedances critically evaluated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ozone and forests in South-Western Europe--What have we learned?
Marco Ferretti,Filippo Bussotti,Vicent Calatayud,Marcus Schaub,Norbert Kräuchi,Bruno Petriccione,Gerardo Sanchez-Peña,María José Sanz,Erwin Ulrich +8 more
TL;DR: The project provides evidence of issues to be addressed within the current monitoring system ( data quality, validation sites and response indicators) and indications as to how the monitoring of O3 risk in the context of an effect-oriented monitoring program can be improved.
Journal ArticleDOI
Status and change of key ecosystem attributes monitored at the CONECOFOR plots, 1995 - 2005 - Achievements, problems, perspectives
TL;DR: The 1995-2005 time series obtained from the original set of 20 plots have been recently analysed in the framework of the Integrated and Combined evaluation system of the I&C programme.
