Journal ArticleDOI
Artificial intelligence in neuropathology: deep learning-based assessment of tauopathy.
Maxim Signaevsky,Marcel Prastawa,Kurt Farrell,Nabil Tabish,Elena Baldwin,Natalia Han,Megan A. Iida,John Koll,Clare Bryce,Dushyant P. Purohit,Vahram Haroutunian,Vahram Haroutunian,Ann C. McKee,Thor D. Stein,Charles L. White,Jamie M. Walker,Timothy E. Richardson,Russell W. Hanson,Michael J. Donovan,Carlos Cordon-Cardo,Jack Zeineh,Gerardo Fernandez,John F. Crary +22 more
TL;DR: It is found that the deep learning framework is capable of identifying and quantifying NFT with a range of staining intensities and diverse morphologies, and is efficient and well suited for the practical application of WSIs with average processing times of 45 min per WSI per GPU.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immunohistologic expression of blood-group antigens in normal human gastrointestinal tract and colonic carcinoma
Carlos Cordon-Cardo,Kenneth O. Lloyd,Junichi Sakamoto,Mary Ellen McGroarty,Lloyd J. Old,Myron R. Melamed +5 more
TL;DR: Immunohistochemical studies demonstrate that ABH and Lewis antigens are differentially expressed in various cell types and developmental stages of the human gastrointestinal tract, and their expression and modulation in colorectal carcinomas is characterized.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differential requirement of mTOR in postmitotic tissues and tumorigenesis.
Caterina Nardella,Arkaitz Carracedo,Andrea Alimonti,Robin M. Hobbs,John G. Clohessy,Zhenbang Chen,Ainara Egia,Alessandro Fornari,Alessandro Fornari,Michelangelo Fiorentino,Massimo Loda,Massimo Loda,Sara C. Kozma,George Thomas,Carlos Cordon-Cardo,Pier Paolo Pandolfi +15 more
TL;DR: It is shown that, whereas conditional inactivation of mTOR activity has little effect in the adult mouse prostate, it markedly suppresses prostate cancer associated with loss of the tumor suppressor PTEN, and mTOR inhibitors that target its catalytic activity may be more effective in cancer therapy than those that specifically inhibit signaling mediated through mTORC1.
Journal Article
p73 Expression in Human Normal and Tumor Tissues: Loss of p73α Expression Is Associated with Tumor Progression in Bladder Cancer
Pere Puig,Paola Capodieci,Marija Drobnjak,David Verbel,Carol Prives,Carlos Cordon-Cardo,Charles J. Di Como +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the expression profile of p73 in human normal tissues by immunohistochemistry (IHC) and to analyze the correlation between p73 expression and bladder cancer progression was characterized.
Journal ArticleDOI
A developmental model of sarcomagenesis defines a differentiation-based classification for liposarcomas.
Igor Matushansky,Eva Hernando,Nicholas D. Socci,Tulio Matos,Joslyn Mills,Mark A. Edgar,Gary K. Schwartz,Samuel Singer,Carlos Cordon-Cardo,Robert G. Maki +9 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that a degree of developmental maturity can be quantitatively assigned to solid tumors, supporting the notion that transformation of a solid tumor stem cell can occur at distinct stages of maturation.
