TL;DR: A role in the deterioration of kidney function for the loci GALNT11 and CDH23 is suggested, and it is shown that the UMOD locus is significantly associated with kidney function decline.
Journal ArticleDOI
Obesity related risk of sudden cardiac death in the atherosclerosis risk in communities study
Selcuk Adabag,Rachel R. Huxley,Faye L. Lopez,Lin Y. Chen,Nona Sotoodehnia,David S. Siscovick,Rajat Deo,Suma H Konety,Alvaro Alonso,Aaron R. Folsom +9 more
TL;DR: General obesity is associated with increased risk of SCD in middle-aged, non-smoking individuals, mediated by traditional cardiovascular risk factors, however, central obesity is independently associated with SCD by pathways that remain to be elucidated.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this article, dose-response relationships between 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25[OH]D) concentrations and risk of coronary heart disease, stroke, and all-cause mortality in observational and Mendelian randomisation frameworks were investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fatty acids in the de novo lipogenesis pathway and risk of coronary heart disease: the Cardiovascular Health Study
Jason H Y Wu,Rozenn N. Lemaitre,Fumiaki Imamura,Irena B. King,Xiaoling Song,Donna Spiegelman,David S. Siscovick,Dariush Mozaffarian +7 more
TL;DR: Higher plasma phospholipid 18:1n-7 and 16:1 n-9 concentrations were prospectively associated with an elevated risk of SCA but not of other CHD events, except in secondary analyses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diuretic Therapy for Hypertension and the Risk of Primary Cardiac Arrest
David S. Siscovick,Trivellore E. Raghunathan,Bruce M. Psaty,Thomas D. Koepsell,Kristine G. Wicklund,Xihong Lin,Leonard A. Cobb,Pentti M. Rautaharju,Michael K. Copass,Edward H. Wagner +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the association between thiazide treatment for hypertension and the occurrence of primary cardiac arrest was examined in a population-based case-control study among enrollees of a health maintenance organization.
