Dietary protein intake is associated with lean mass change in older, community-dwelling adults: the Health, Aging, and Body Composition (Health ABC) Study.
Denise K. Houston,Barbara J. Nicklas,Jingzhong Ding,Tamara B. Harris,Frances A Tylavsky,Anne B. Newman,Jung Sun Lee,Nadine R. Sahyoun,Marjolein Visser,Stephen B. Kritchevsky +9 more
TL;DR: Dietary protein may be a modifiable risk factor for sarcopenia in older adults and should be studied further to determine its effects on preserving LM in this population.
Journal ArticleDOI
Inflammatory markers and onset of cardiovascular events: results from the Health ABC study.
Matteo Cesari,Brenda W.J.H. Penninx,Anne B. Newman,Stephen B. Kritchevsky,Barbara J. Nicklas,Kim Sutton-Tyrrell,Susan M. Rubin,Jingzhong Ding,Eleanor M. Simonsick,Tamara B. Harris,Marco Pahor +10 more
TL;DR: A composite summary indicator of inflammation showed a strong association with incident cardiovascular events, with an especially high risk if all 3 inflammatory markers were in the highest tertile.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Six new atrial fibrillation susceptibility loci implicate candidate genes that encode transcription factors related to cardiopulmonary development, cardiac-expressed ion channels and cell signaling molecules that are associated with stroke, heart failure and death.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Differences between transcriptomic age and chronological age are associated with biological features linked to ageing, such as blood pressure, cholesterol levels, fasting glucose, and body mass index and the transcriptomic prediction model adds biological relevance and complements existing epigenetic prediction models.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of intensive glucose lowering on brain structure and function in people with type 2 diabetes (ACCORD MIND): A randomised open-label substudy
Lenore J. Launer,Michael E. Miller,Jeff D. Williamson,Ronald M. Lazar,Hertzel C. Gerstein,Anne M. Murray,Mark D. Sullivan,Karen R. Horowitz,Jingzhong Ding,Santica M. Marcovina,Laura C. Lovato,James Lovato,Karen L. Margolis,Patrick J. O'Connor,Edward W. Lipkin,Joy Hirsch,Laura H. Coker,Joseph A. Maldjian,Jeffrey L. Sunshine,Charles Truwit,Christos Davatzikos,R. Nick Bryan +21 more
TL;DR: Although significant differences in TBV favoured the intensive treatment, cognitive outcomes were not different and the findings do not support the use of intensive therapy to reduce the adverse effects of diabetes on the brain in patients with similar characteristics to those of participants.
