Journal ArticleDOI
Recurrent rhinovirus infections in a child with inherited MDA5 deficiency.
Ian T. Lamborn,Huie Jing,Yu Zhang,Scott Drutman,Jordan K. Abbott,Shirin Munir,Sangeeta Bade,Heardley M. Murdock,Celia Santos,Linda G. Brock,Evan M. Masutani,Emmanuel Y. Fordjour,Joshua McElwee,Jason D. Hughes,Dave P. Nichols,Abdelaziz Belkadi,Andrew J. Oler,Corinne Savides Happel,Helen F. Matthews,Laurent Abel,Laurent Abel,Laurent Abel,Peter L. Collins,Kanta Subbarao,Erwin W. Gelfand,Michael J. Ciancanelli,Jean-Laurent Casanova,Helen C. Su +27 more
TL;DR: Human MDA5 deficiency is a novel inborn error of innate and/or intrinsic immunity that causes impaired (ds)RNA sensing, reduced IFN induction, and susceptibility to the common cold virus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Defective glycosylation and multisystem abnormalities characterize the primary immunodeficiency XMEN disease

TL;DR: X-linked immunodeficiency with magnesium defect, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection, and neoplasia (XMEN) disease is caused by deficiency of the magnesium transporter 1 gene (MAGT1), and deep immunophenotyping and glycoproteomics analysis on T lymphocytes show that XMEN disease is a congenital disorder of glycosylation that affects a restricted subset ofglycoproteins.
Journal ArticleDOI
Deep Learning Single-Frame and Multiframe Super-Resolution for Cardiac MRI.
TL;DR: Although training was performed only on short-axis cardiac MRI examinations, the proposed strategy appeared to improve quality in other imaging planes and recovered high-frequency spatial information.
Journal ArticleDOI
The analysis of macroalgae biomass found around Hawaii for bioethanol production.
Brandon A. Yoza,Evan M. Masutani +1 more
TL;DR: Macroalgae commonly found in the ocean around Hawaii were collected from near shore locations and their potential as biomass feedstock for fermentative ethanol was investigated, finding that 49% of the total mass was observed as sugars in the hydrolysate; however, fermentation was problematic.
Journal ArticleDOI
Magnesium transporter 1 (MAGT1) deficiency causes selective defects in N-linked glycosylation and expression of immune-response genes
Mami Matsuda-Lennikov,Matthew Biancalana,Juan Zou,Juan C. Ravell,Lixin Zheng,Chrysi Kanellopoulou,Ping Jiang,Giulia Notarangelo,Huie Jing,Evan M. Masutani,Andrew J. Oler,Lisa Renee Olano,Benjamin L. Schulz,Michael J. Lenardo +13 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that humans lacking functional MAGT1 have a selective deficiency in both immune and nonimmune glycoproteins, and several critical glycosylation defects in important immune-response proteins and in the expression of genes involved in immunity are identified.
