Journal ArticleDOI
Search for faster methods of fitting the regressive models to quantitative traits.
TL;DR: Approximations 6 and 8 are found to work appropriately in terms of both the estimation of all parameters and hypothesis testing, for each generating model, and lessen the computer time by allowing use of the Elston‐Stewart algorithm.
Journal ArticleDOI
Indication of linkage of serum IgE levels to the interleukin‐4 gene and exclusion of the contribution of the (–590 C to T) interleukin‐4 promoter polymorphism to IgE variation
Marie-Hélène Dizier,Andrew J. Sandford,Andrew Walley,Anne Philippi,William O.C.M. Cookson,Florence Demenais +5 more
TL;DR: There was no evidence of linkage of total IgE levels to the IL‐4 region, but an indication of linkage was found between IgE Levels adjusted for SRA and two IL‐ 4 polymorphisms: one dinucleotide repeat in intron 2 of theIL‐4 gene and a single nucleotide (–590 C to T) polymorphism in the IL-4 promoter.
Journal ArticleDOI
Different Genes Interact with Particulate Matter and Tobacco Smoke Exposure in Affecting Lung Function Decline in the General Population
Ivan Curjuric,Medea Imboden,Medea Imboden,Rachel Nadif,Rachel Nadif,Ashok Kumar,Ashok Kumar,Ashok Kumar,Christian Schindler,Christian Schindler,Margot Haun,Florian Kronenberg,Nino Künzli,Nino Künzli,Harish C. Phuleria,Harish C. Phuleria,Dirkje S. Postma,Erich W. Russi,Thierry Rochat,Florence Demenais,Florence Demenais,Florence Demenais,Nicole Probst-Hensch,Nicole Probst-Hensch +23 more
TL;DR: Consistent with a stratified response to increasing oxidative stress, different genes and pathways potentially mediate PM10 and tobacco smoke effects on lung function decline and contrasted interactions between exposures.
Journal ArticleDOI
Segregation analysis of prostate cancer in France: evidence for autosomal dominant inheritance and residual brother-brother dependence.
Antoine Valeri,L. Briollais,Rahmene Azzouzi,Georges Fournier,Philippe Mangin,Philippe Berthon,Olivier Cussenot,Olivier Cussenot,Florence Demenais +8 more
TL;DR: Four segregation analyses concerning prostate cancer (CaP), three conducted in the United States and one in Northern Europe, have shown evidence for a dominant major gene but with different parameter estimates, suggesting a complex inheritance and genetic heterogeneity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cutaneous phenotype and MC1R variants as modifying factors for the development of melanoma in CDKN2A G101W mutation carriers from 4 countries.
Alisa M. Goldstein,Valérie Chaudru,Paola Ghiorzo,Celia Badenas,Josep Malvehy,Lorenza Pastorino,Karine Laud,Benjamin J. Hulley,Marie-Françoise Avril,Joan Anton Puig-Butille,Annie Miniere,Rosa M. Martí,Agnès Chompret,Francisco Cuellar,Isabel Kolm,Montserrat Milà,Margaret A. Tucker,Florence Demenais,Giovanna Bianchi-Scarrà,Susana Puig,Brigitte Bressac De-Paillerets +20 more
TL;DR: Variation in the effects of the cutaneous phenotypic and MC1R factors across the study sample suggests that these factors differentially contribute to development of melanoma even on a common genetic background of a germline CDKN2A mutation.
